1969 Chevrolet Corvair Additional Info:

For Sale: 1969 Corvair Monza 140 4-speed, 3:55 posi (#3405). California car, now back east! Third owner, 63K original miles very solid, straight body, very little rust. Nice original black interior. Drives perfect, strong, tight 140 engine. Almost new US Mags & tires. Original burgundy car, had mostly original paint when I got it. Have all original parts including smog pump., wheels, steering wheel, Protecto-Plate, manual, etc. Was driven back from Santa Maria, California to West Virginia in 1988 by previous owner, Randy Force. Car has never been “restored” it has just been well maintained and has had most all wear parts replaced. Randy did an extensive amount of mechanical/suspension/brake work (see scanned list). In addition, he added a drivers side retracting seatbelt and a 3rd brakelight. He unhooked the secondary carbs. He barely drove the car after the refurbishment. I bought it in late 2013. I fixed several oil leaks & the engine is now very oil tight. Put new 2” turbo mufflers & Clark’s U-bends on. Has a very V8 rumble. I added the new US Mags (15X7 & 15X8) & tires. (Note: the current nose down attitude is due to weight in the trunk). The original paint was worn out & had a dent in the drivers ¼.

Two years ago I did bodywork to make the car presentable. Was sprayed with a black base coat; was never cleared or buffed. It has a nice semi-gloss sheen that shows how straight the body really is. There was very little rust on the car. It was never driven in salt. The only rust I fixed was on the corners of the passenger door (minor) and the front pan & rt front corner. At the time, I didn’t have a replacement pan. It was repaired with steel patches & high strength filler (shows some bubbling). It is the only panel on the car that could stand replacement. (It was packed with So-Cal sand!) I will include a nice used piece. There are a few very small places that are showing rust, on drivers fender & ¼ panel, again very small. I will be happy to send additional detailed pics of the car before I started any bodywork as well as current.

The floors, rockers and trunk are all very solid. Inside, I added a nice Grant wheel and Clark’s console. Otherwise the interior is 100% original; seats, carpet, headliner are ORIGINAL & look great!. The carpet shows wear in the drivers “foot” area, but is covered with the floor mat. Still very presentable. Runs strong & drives great. Has an occasional cough & spit, mostly because the car has sat & needs driven. Drives very tight, like a new car (well a new ’69!) Everything works, heater, all lights, key buzzer, signals. Would drive anywhere. Great car!

Note; Fitch Sprint accessory roof (NOS Clark repo) pictured is NOT included, but is for sale as well.
