1963 Chevrolet Corvair Monza 900 Additional Info:
This is a factory built, 1963 Chevy Corvair Monza 900 Turbo Spyder Convertible with a 4 Speed transmission. It's an original, rust free California car that was owned by the local Corvair guru here in Fresno, California. This man was the only Corvair specialist in the Central Valley for over 50 years and he had the biggest collection of Corvair cars, trucks and vans around. If you needed a part or help with your Corvair, Bud was the man.
Bud is still living here in Fresno with his wife in their own home at the ripe old age of 95. Quite a guy. Anyway, this was his last project that he brought home to restore after he sold his shop many years ago. He figured it would keep keep him busy in the garage but, as time went on, his age prevented him from completing the car. He started with the drivetrain and that's where he made the most progress. The engine was completely rebuilt as well as the turbo but then it sat for years.
When we acquired it, we took it straight to the only other Corvair mechanic left in Fresno. Enter Truman. Truman is 81 years old and quite a character. He had the car for a couple months taking his time to check things over. It now has all new brakes, rebuilt carburetor, new battery and a bunch of little stuff that he did over that time.
The car runs and drives good now but it's still been just sitting here and it really needs to be driven more and fine tuned. The speedometer, tach, manifold and fuel gauge work fine, the temp gauge does not. The lights and signals have some issues but we are told this is all due to a faulty headlight switch. We had the car painted and he did a very nice job ($2500). The top and interior are original and in decent shape for the age. The car looks to be rust free and is VERY clean underneath. Tires and battery are brand new, weatherstripping needs to be replaced. Overall it's a nice looking driver that you can continue to restore or drive like it is. It's currently registered and we have the title in hand. It's inside our shop here in Fresno and can be seen anytime. We are selling as-is so please ask any questions you may have before you bid. If you have little, none or negative feedback, please contact us before you bid or your bid will be cancelled. We don't arrange shipping but we do recommend UShip.
