There are many who will argue that this 1992 Cadillac Seville is the car that turned things around for GM's flagship brand. Crisp styling, great road manners, and a distinctly American personality made it a winner by any measure, and there may yet come a day when they become collectable. In the meantime, this is a great opportunity to own some big American luxury for very little cash. The restyled Seville hit the streets and nobody was making fun of Cadillac anymore. It had performance, handling, comfort, and as this car ably demonstrates, a great look that stood out from the crowd. Bright white paint highlights the sleek shape and it remains 100% original, proving once again that you really did get more for your money with a Cadillac. It's in very good condition thanks to having lived its life in a warm climate and it was stored indoors, so there's no UV damage or serious fading anywhere. These cars fit together quite well and you can see just how tight the gaps are on this one because there's no place for shoddy work to hide on a white car. A single red pinstripe adds a little contrast and for those traditionalists out there, yes, there's still a stand-up hood ornament out front. Cadillac pioneered the use of LED lights on automobiles and the full-width third brake light on this car makes it as distinctive in the dark as it is in the daylight. At first glance, you'd swear the interior was red cloth, but that's only because the front seats are wearing nicely fitted seat covers over the original tan leather. The leather itself is showing its age, which is fairly common on GM products of the period, and the cloth makes things a lot more comfortable on warm days. The back seat remains in excellent condition and shows off the softer styling that was part of the Seville's new personality. Contrasting red instrument panel pieces and carpets really work well and that's real Zebrano wood stretching across the dash and onto the doors. Everything was standard in the Seville, including A/C, power windows, locks, seats, and mirrors, cruise control, and a full set of gauges, including a tach, which was a first for Cadillac. There's also an AM/FM/CD stereo system and a good-sized trunk that's ready for a road trip.Cadillac's 4.9 liter OHV V8 engine was virtually bulletproof by 1992 and pulls the big sedan around with genuine enthusiasm. It's as smooth as you'd expect for a Cadillac and it has been recently and extensively serviced, including new belts, plugs, and cleaning the fuel injectors, plus a fresh oil change less than 50 miles ago. It starts easily and purrs with a distinctive Cadillac rumble that's never loud but certainly sounds like eight cylinders. Underneath, the all-independent suspension is competent but supple, a great combination if you like to drive but don't want a harsh ride. It's enhanced with fresh sway bar end links, new front struts, tie rod ends, and an alignment, so it's solid and smooth, not sloppy. It's shockingly clean underneath, more evidence of clean living in a warm climate, and the original wheels were recently powdercoated so they'll look good practically forever.Complete with a clean CarFAX, manuals, and service papers, this is a bargain-priced luxury car that still drives like it should cost thousands more.
