1971 Buick Riviera Additional Info:

Our 1971 Buick Riviera is an un-restored beauty with 35,662 original miles. The car is optioned with power steering, power brakes, power windows, air conditioning and an AM/FM radio with front and rear speakers.
It is becoming extremely rare to find examples of these cars that have not undergone major restorations which is what attracted me to this car when I bought it about 20 years ago. The car was originally purchased new by a gentleman in Southern New Jersey. He drove the car until 1975 when he passed away. His wife parked the car in a garage and it sat there until 1995 when it was discovered by a local collector. He put a set of tires on the car and installed a new battery and drove it away. Pretty amazing. The interior, the carpets, the seats the dashboard are all in excellent condition. The Vinyl roof is original and looks new. As I understand it, the car did get a repaint before I purchased it around 1999. The paint is terrific with no signs of wear. The car rides smooth and quiet without a single rattle anywhere and the 455 purrs like a kitten and has incredible power. Next to the Cadillac 500cui, this was the largest motor produced by GM. 1971 was the first year for the boattail Riviera and this design was only produced until 1973. This car has the highly desirable chrome bumpers which were only on the 71&72 models and are unblemished.
Aside from minor surface rust on the items like the rear pumpkin, there is absolutely NO RUST or damage of any kind on any body panels. You could eat off the fender skirts as you can see in the pictures of the engine compartment. It has always been stored in a heated garage with the rest of my collectible cars. I have only put about 500 miles on the car in the last 5 years. There are three things that need to be done to the car. The fuel gauge is not working (probably needs a new float), the oil pressure sending switch needs to be replaced (I have the new one ordered and will replace it if I get it in time). Otherwise I will include it with the car at sale) and the air conditioner needs a charge. It was working the last time I drove the car (about a year ago) but was not working when I moved the car today. It has been updated to use R134 so there shouldn't be any issues there. The compressor runs fine, but the sight glass has numerous bubbles (low charge indication).

I am selling the car since I am getting up a bit in years and I'm finding it hard to spend the time taking care of my vehicles properly (which includes getting them out and driving them). Therefore, it's time for this amazing classic to find a new home where it will be appreciated.
If there are things you would like to see which aren't in my pictures, feel free to let me know and I'll be happy to take/send more shots. If you have no/negative feedback, you will need to contact me before bidding. As you can see from my feedback, I am a long time ebayer with solid feedback and I have detailed any issues I'm aware of. Happy bidding and good luck.
I will assist the new owners to coordinate shipping. If you are in the Central Pennsylvania area I may be able to assist with delivery. I will accept cash, certified checks or wire transfers. With anything other than cash, I cannot release the car or title until my bank has confirmed that all funds have cleared. Being a private seller, I'm sure you understand that.
Over the next few months I will be selling a number of cars from my collection including a '57 BelAir Convertible, '53 BelAir Convertible, 1973 BMW 2002tii, 1994 & 1995 BMW 850 CSi's and a 1966 Rolls Royce Silver Shadow, so follow me and keep an eye out for those auctions also.

The car has also been listed for sale locally, so I do reserve the right to end the auction early if the reserve has not been met. If the car reaches reserve, I will honor the sale here on ebay regardless of any local offers.
