No, our eyes aren't deceiving you: this is a numbers-matching 1969 Buick GS400 with a nice restoration for a price that wouldn't buy you a Chevelle SS clone. With goodies like factory A/C, fat torque curve, nd a cool color combination, his one just won't last long. You'll note this GS is wearing what appears to be code 57 Verde Green paint job and the combination of Buick's upmarket shape and the subtle color is insanely appealing. You'll note that it was originally Antique Gold, hich was kind of brown, o the color change isn't a surprising decision. The Skylark's proportions give it a perfect muscle car stance and additions like the cool scooped hood means the Buick engineers weren't messing around when they dropped the big 400-inch V8 between the fenders. Finish quality is quite good, nd despite having some age on it, he paint shines up nicely and looks appropriate for this grown-up hot rod. The chrome bumpers were refinished a few years ago, he stainless is in good original condition, nd all the correct GS badges are in place, nd in this car's case they're legit, ot just slapped on because someone likes how they look. A black vinyl roof helps with the upscale image and remains in very good condition with a neat stainless bead around its perimeter.GM's A-body interiors are some of the best of the era, nd Buick's position as an upmarket offering means that detailing is exceptional. Comfortable parchment bench seats are always cool in something with this much performance, nd the comfortable upholstery is ideal for Buick's upscale image. There's a standard Skylark instrument panel which covers only the basics, ut with Buick's legendary durability, ou really don't need to worry. The upholstery and carpets were replaced during the restoration, o it looks quite fresh inside, lthough we believe the door panels are original and starting to show their age. Factory A/C is a nice addition and remains fully functional, rarity in vehicles of this vintage. Getting the picture that there's a lot more to this car than the price would suggest? There's even a reproduction mat in the trunk, long with a full-sized spare and Buick road wheel. Buick's mighty 400 cubic inch V8 made toque its calling card, nd this matching-numbers powerplant will light up the rear tires at will. Of course, hat's unseemly for a grown-up muscle car, ut the way these cars run surprised everyone back in the day. With a correct air cleaner assembly, ante Red paint on the engine, nd reproduction decals, t looks pretty darned good given that it's been driven and enjoyed quite a bit. It starts with that characteristic Buick baritone burble from the twin exhaust pipes, hich use Flowmasters to control the sound. A TH400 3-speed automatic transmission is the only one strong enough to handle the big Buick and it spins a sturdy 10-bolt rear. Front and rear sway bars give it nimble handling without upsetting the great Buick ride. And flashy Buick road wheels look sporty, specially with staggered 205/70/14 front and 215/70/14 rear BFGoodrich white-letter tires. If you've read this far, t might already be too late, ecause a matching-numbers Buick GS in great colors with factory A/C for less than the price of a Honda just won't last.
