This is a sports car/roadster made from a 1961 American. All work was done right. It is in solid drive-anywhere condition. Registered, insured, clear CA title.
Few cars have this much documentation: https://www.ramblerlore.com/AMC/Roadster/index.html
Over 150 photos at https://www.ramblerlore.com/AMC/Roadster/For-sale/index.html
The basics are:
* Rambler 195.6 OHV engine heavily modified.
* Ford T5z transmission, custom by Modern Drivelines, (1st: 2.95 2nd:
1.94 3rd: 1.34 4th: 1 5th: 0.73).
* Ford 1998 7.5" axle, 3.45 gears, narrowed to AMC width.
* Four TorqueThrust D wheels, 16" x 7".
* Four GForce Comp2 tires, 205/50-16, W speed rating.
* 3000 rpm at 90 mph as setup.
* Disc brakes (all four).
* Front suspension, modified stock.
* Rear suspension, custom.
* Painless wiring harness.
* Tanks Inc baffled fuel tank.
It runs middle-of-the-pack with a bunch of 1970's sports cars, flat and neutral with throttle-oversteer. (Insufficient compliance in the rear so it tends to snap oversteer; solution known.) I built this for driving in the SoCal TT (https://www.socaltt.com for photos).
ENGINE: 1962 195.6 OHV built by "Big Pete" Fleming (last I heard in NV). $5000 for machine work, custom Ariel eutectic pistons, special steel honda 82mm rings, cam grind, serious head flow work. E-stick (high volume) oil pump, full flow oil filter and oil cooler with thermostatic fan. Tuned Accusump setup, no oil pressure loss in turns. Ford type crossflow radiator, 18" SPAL electric pusher fan. Weber 38/38, Ford EDIS-6 ignition with Megajolt/E.
There is no faster or more robust 195.6 OHV engine. Impeccably maintained.
SUSPENSION: Front is stock with upgrades. It is in like-new condition. Poly (soft) bushings, has "Shelby drop" removing most understeer. Have 2D simulation of. Rear is a 3rd gen handmade double wishbone and panhard, the front pivot located below the front U-joint. Air springs with shraeder valves each corner for tuning springs. Stock Ford discs brakes on rear.
CHASSIS: The unibody is severely modified and a bit beat up from use. It is a two-seater with rear lid over the filled space. DOM tubing partial subframe between A and B pillar systems. No doors -- climb in. Front chassis has heavy duty bolt-in triangulation stiffener above engine, beefed up K-brace below. Car weighs 2500 lbs, measured on a truck scale. Stock is 3200.
I intended to swap this running gear into a more mundane American but decided I don't need another project. I have documentation, manuals, design notes, also-tried's, many receipts, spare parts and extras. Spreadsheets for basic calculations (chassis, suspension, RPM vs gear ratio vs tire size vs MPH).
