I am selling another one-of-kind classic and timeless muscle car from the collection of a local Birmingham car collector. This Javelin was originally purchased new locally in Victory Texas - It has been in the same family for 50 year lifespan. It was relocated to Birmingham in 2004 where it began its 10 year restoration process. It runs and drives superb! It is a fully restored, no expense spared and extremely low mileage, matching numbers car with less than 5000 mi being driven since restoration was completed in 2014. This car has been indoor climate controlled stored the bulk of its 50 year life span - no salted roads, coastal humidity or sea air. Never in foul weather since 2014. It cranks and drives wonderfully. Fires instantly at the hit of the key. No issues at all with this HALF CENTURY old rarity! The entire AMC lineup is quickly becoming one of the most sought after collector genres around. And this one will certainly not disappoint!

Extensive documentation of entire restoration process including list of vendors, costs, parts replaced and reburbished, services provided, work performed dates, warrantees, etc. is included. The notes, diary, and record keeping kept during this restoration is borderline obsessive and neurotic. No expense was spared to bring this classic hot rod back to its original showroom-new condition.

Totally restored and fantastic - 5 digit original and fully functional odometer shows 30651 miles but actual and documented total accumulated mileage is 130,651 miles. The paint is excellant and is the original AMC color of Vineyard Burgandy Metallic. There is zero body filler anywhere on this car. It has no patch panels. Interior is also excellant. Car cranks and fires at the hit of the key - hot or cold. Purrs almost as quiet as a new car. No obnoxious “fuel” smells as is typically found on carburated cars from the 70’s

This impeccable machine also includes the original AMC Javelin factory service/workshop manual, owners manual, dealer sales brochures, and even the dealer provided AMC road atlas. All 3 are in excellant condition with very slight patina from actual use. Not reprints. These are authentic period correct manuals.

This Javelin has zero mechanical or cosmetic issues at all. It is as reliable now as it was the day it was built - reliable enough for a coast to coast cruise, or pro tour! The engine, and brand new power dual disc front brakes, rear brakes, chassis, suspension, tires, wheels are excellent. Rear drum brakes are totally new. No squeeks, rattles, groans etc while driving this legendary timepiece. Both the interior and exterior are impeccable.

EXTERIOR

The body is completely rust free thanks to it living for half a century since new in a non coastal, lower humidity climate, with no salt/snow roads. ALways under carport or indoor stored so no water leaks to interior or rusted floor boards.

All glass is perfectly clean with no imperfections. No chips, cracks, haze, fog, or wiper scrapes, whatsoever. All new glass and door gaskets/seals keep the cabin air and water tight. There are no water leaks into the cockpit, no wind howl, or draftiness. This machine can be driven through a touch free car wash without the water leaks going inside!

All brightwork - chrome plating, polished stainless and aluminum - is excellent and blemish free. No pitting, haze, dents, dings, rash, scarring etc on any body trim, bumpers, mirrors, emblems, or facia surfaces interior or exterior. This thing glistens and sparkles as intended.

All door hinges and ck straps, trunk and hood hinges and latches are new and function smooth with brand new action. No creaks, squeeks or rattles. Latches are secure with positive angagement and need no slamming or double re-closing. No slop or clunking. The door handles open, close and release with the precision and feel of a modern day car. Hood latch and safety catch are perfect as is the trunk latch. Hood latch pull knob/cable located under dash is smooth fee and effortless. All panel gaps, jambs, and body seams are even and equal.

Headlights, turnsignals, marker lights, tail lights and brake lights work flawlessly and have clean, blemish free lenses.

INTERIOR/CABIN

This is an air conditioned car from the factory - it is fully functional.

All guages and instruments including Odometer and Speedometer, Water Temp and Oil Pressure Gauge etc are fully functional. Time keeping clock does work but needs occasional resetting and is not very consistent at maintaining correct time.

All interior switches, knobs, and buttons are OEM and work as designed. OEM dash mounted headlight and running light toggle switch, as well as interior dome and dash dimmer light toggle switch work as designed. Dash mounted wiper and washer toggle switches work. Steering column left stalk turnsignal switch works. Horn works. AC and heat blower motor fan speed switch works.

All door panel switches are working and fully functional. Interior door locks - unique style to the javelin - are fully functional as is the driver door side mirror adjuster. Keyed switches (ignition and door/trunk locks) are clean and turn freely - locks and keys match as designed by AMC. (It has the 2 keys AMC logo'd keys - 1 for ignition, the other for door and trunk locks)

This Javelin’s interior is excellant and features new headliner, original door panels, sun visors, and the original crack free, blemish free, fade free vinyl - dash has no discoloration or sun damage of any sort. Glove box opens, closes, and latches as new. The original gear shift knob remains. Seats have been custom upholstered to OEM spec with original equipment white leather material. Each bucket seat features a shoulder and lapbelt safety harness. Seat sliders are fully functional. Emergency/parking brake lever is smooth and functional with positive ratchet engagement and has working effortless release lever.

Front and rear window cranks are smooth, quiet and effortless rolling up and/or down with no drag, squeeking, popping or resistance in regulator whatsoever. Totally quiet and easy.

Transmission tunnel mounted center console armrest, features the unique AMC Javelin gear shifter wing style/selector. Also featured on the center console is two storage compartments, that includes the OEM ashtray, which is clean and appears never before used. One of the two storage compartments has the original (keyed) locking/latching lid.

This car has a period correct AM/FM dolby stereo and cassette that was ordered as an option from the factory which includes its original owners manual. Dual rear speakers work brilliantly - single front speaker does not work.

Carpets and mats throughout (including trunk lining) are new. Original spare tire/wheel combo and jack tools located in trunk are included.

CHASSIS/SUSPENSION

Brakes - Pedal feel is progessive and linear. No mushyness, or notchy hydraulics.

Wheels spin free and with no drag when brakes are released.

Wheels are straight, true, and balanced 17” alloy rally 500 sport wheels that are like-new with only 1500 or so miles since mount and balance (90% tread wear remains) BF Goodrich Radial T/A’s 205/70/17 tires.

The parking brake engagement pedal is smooth with positive ratcheting locking. Release cable and knob mounted under dash release the ratchet pawl with the slightest of effort.

Power steering is smooth, tight and reacts at the slightest input from driver. No leaks, groans, air pocket in rack or pump. All suspension and steering bushings are fresh and deliver a firm and supple ride. Tire to body clearance at wheel well is ample in all driving scenarios and at full steering lock both directions.

This car drives and tracks straight. No weaving, wandering under hard braking or during freeway lane changes.

ENGINE/TRANSMISSION MECHANICAL

This Javelin features the original matching number 403ci - 5 liter V8 motor that was fully rebuilt at 90k miles. Whisper quiet engine that idles and revs smooth and quickly with a quick stab on the pedal. Motor fires when cold with a just a few pumps on the accelerator.

After the engine reaches operating temperature, the motor fires instaneously in only a couple revolutions of the crank. Instant and reliable starting is a beautiful feeling in any carb’d car.

The ultra smooth and horsepower laden engine is mated to the original AMC Javelin "Torque Command" 3 speed on floor automatic transmission. Transmission shifts smoothly and precisely whether up shifting or down shifting.

Coolant system is leak free and maintains proper temperature and engine cooling whether idling on summer days for extended times, or running at 80+ mph for miles on end. Thermostat, all coolant hoses, water pump and belts are new.

Oil/Oil Filter, air filter, plugs are fresh.

No engine oil leaks, no transmission leaks, no vacuum leaks, no engine smoke at all. No coolant leaks internally or externally. No fuel leaks. No fumes. Carb tuning is spot on.

Charging system works as intended and puts out 14.6 volts at idle. Battery is 2 years old and installed during. A maintainer trickle charger stays connected when not being driven.

I use only nonethanol fuel in this car with lead boost lubricant additive.

This Javelin also comes with a literal trunk load of many unused/used Javelin parts and other Javelin restoration parts of high collector value. Almost all old parts that were replaced were retained for future use. If necessary i could make a list for serious interested parties. A brand new soft storage cover is included.
