1991 Alfa Romeo 164 L Additional Info:
Meticulously maintained and restored Alfa Romeo. Reluctantly selling my 1991 164. It has been restored to truly beautiful condition. The car was owned long-term by a local Alfa Club member who did the maintenance and kept a log of work performed. It then when to another local enthusiast who had the motor rebuilt. The next owner had it for several years and had a professional and proper paint job completed. I pursued him for years to purchase the car, seeing at the local Cars & Coffee. I then purchased the car, completed and without needs, this time last year. It is one of 4 Alfa's I own and a car that is hard to part with. While it has 176K miles, the motor was rebuilt 4-5 years ago. It runs exceptionally smooth with no smoke and no oil is needed between changes. The timing belt was replaced when the motor was rebuilt. The paint is beautiful, free of scratches and dings. I had it professionally polished and ceramic coated. The wheels are in superb order and are ceramic coated as well. Tires are Michelin MX4 in excellent condition and plenty of tread life remaining. Brakes, steering, handling and shifting characteristics of the car are all good, all solid. The noises this engine make are addicting. It gets compliments every time I take it out. It is equipped with a set of the Uber-Rare Alfa Tan Recarro's which are in stunning condition. This was a $4000 option in 1991! It also includes an ultra-soft, custom-fit Covercraft car cover. The wheels are from the 164S and a complete (brand new) set of lowering springs from Centerline Alfa are in the trunk. When painted, a set of "Q" mirrors were installed and painted at the same time. A set of Bosch Euro headlights from Italy are in the trunk as well. The stepper motor for the HVAC was rebuilt using brass steppers. AC works great and blows cold. System works great in Auto mode with no issues at all fan speeds. This is a known weakness on these cars so I felt it important to outline how well it is operating. I hate selling the car but also own a 164S, a 4C and a GTV. These cars all get used frequently. The 164 mostly just sits and looks beautiful. It is a truly excellent car and should be used and enjoyed. Like all of these cars, while it has no current 'issues', it is nearly 30 years old and will have some needs in the future. These include:1. Clutch engagement is very good and shifting is smooth. The clutch does not slip. However, I am guessing the clutch is about 75% through its wear cycle and will eventually need to be replaced.2. The sunroof opens but will not slide back. The seal seems to catch and I have not dealt with fixing this item because it is a small one. I did purchase a new sunroof seal which is also in the trunk. 3. The car leaks a bit of fluid, but only occasional drops. It was properly put back together when rebuilt. I've never owned an Alfa that did not leak a little bit of oil (except the 4C). This is as beautiful a 164 as you will see anywhere. Always owned by enthusiasts. Maintained and restored completely. It is very rare and a cosmetically stunning car. $2500 is due at purchase and the balance within 5 days. Wire transfer is preferred and an immediate Bill of Sale will be provided. Please don't bid unless your feedback scores on eBay are 100% positive. The car is in Salem, OR. Buyer is responsible for shipping.
