NO RESERVE AUCTION - this is the most desirable year and model for Spiders (final production year of Series 3 which was introduced in 1982 in highest trim offered -Veloce).
For those asking what the buy it now price is to end the auction now, the price is $14,000. This is the custom valuation my Hagerty collector insurance valued this car at (I can send the report). The car has antique plates and insurance which only costs $12/month for full coverage.
1990 Alfa Romeo Spider two door convertible w/ 5sp manual transmission and 2.0L 4-cyl engine. This car has been relegated to weekend use (car events) and was rarely taken out of the garage since purchased new in 1999...only 61K original miles (averaged 2200 miles annually). I inherited this and put $4000 in routine maintenance in the last year to get everything working perfect. It was one of those things where I brought it in for some routine maintenance and he kept finding small things that needed to be fixed, before I knew it the bill was $3300. I then added four new tires because he had told me they were starting to dry rot from age. Tires have less than 100 miles on them and are new. I have no time to enjoy this car this year with small twins and need the garage space and funds for other home projects.
Exterior
There are no dents, dings, scratches on the vehicle's metal body anywhere. The VIN numbers match everywhere. The paint has a nice rich, deep shine and I have been told it has a finish good for show. Paint is factory Blu Chiaro metallic. There are zero rust issues. I can email additional pics of wheel arches, undercarriage etc to show no rust if requested (ebay only allows 24 pics).
Interior
The black interior is in great shape and the restored seats show no wear. The new restored carpet is clean and the mats are brand new fitted Alfa floor mats. One non-OEM part worth mentioning is the CD player installed because I lost the radio code on the Alfa head unit (sounds great though). The top is new and has never been stored outside. The windows are power and work as they should. There are no dash lights/check engine lights lit. Has the typical Alfa crack in dash but a fitted dash cover has been installed for protection.
Mechanical
The vehicle runs great and has no mechanical issues that would prevent it from driving home a long distance if so desired. The steering response is tight and all four tires are brand new. The engine, transmission, clutch, power steering, brakes, and suspension all work nicely.
Recent work done this year as mentioned in above for $4000 to get the engine running perfect (receipts to show, work done at Alfa Performance Center):
Four brand new matching tires - July 2016 (less than 200 miles on tires)
New clutch/slave cylinder
Valve adjustment/cam timing/seal gasket/head plugs
New fuel pump/fuel filter/fuel hoses
New spark plugs/plug wires
New air filter
New motor mounts and trans mount
New front wheel bearings
New axle bearing and seal
New driveshaft center hanger
Vacuum line replaced
Oil change/oil filter
Work done in past few years with under 2000 miles
New seat upholstery/carpet/top
New water pump
New radiator/hoses
New brakes on all 4 corners (4-wheel disc)/master cylinder/booster
The car is 27 years old and will qualify for classic plates or antique plates (emissions exempt) if you chose to go that route. I currently have use the antique plates. I currently pay $12/month for full coverage classic car insurance.
