1977 RIVIERA CAMPER LOW MILE ORIGINAL TIME CAPSULE SURVIVOR. Only 127,000 documented original miles. 100% original paint, 99% Rust free. Rare automatic transmission. Original radio and detachable cook stove. Near mint original seat upholstery and interior. Approx 4k miles on completely rebuilt motor with new heads (receipt included). Super dry west coast bus.
*** I have all receipts totaling over $10,000 for all repair work listed below as well as a detailed maintenance history including DEQ and emissions paperwork.
ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION- Approx 4k miles on completely professional rebuilt motor (receipt included) At the time of the rebuild new heads were installed. The 2 liter fuel injected hydraulic valve motor runs perfectly and has plenty of power. This 2 liter hydraulic valve fuel injected motor is considered by most the best air cooled motor VW ever built. New muffler, catalytic converter, fuel sender, 5th injector, neutral safety switch, starter, battery, air box sensor, fuel lines. The van has always been meticulously maintained. The automatic transmission shifts crisp and precise. This bus is very reliable. I would not hesitate to drive it any were.
PAINT/ BODY- 100% original paint survivor. The original paint is in exceptional condition do to the the van being mostly garaged since new. Perfect door and body gaps. Super clean bus. Rare factory 100% original Sage Green paint (L63H) not normally found on Riviera's. New windshield and seal. The front and rear bumpers were just sandblasted and powder coated to the factory original color (not pictured). I also powder coated the rear bumper valance the correct satin black. Brand new sand blasted and powder coated rims including spare in the correct metallic silver color. 99% rust free. The floors, doglegs, out riggers, gutters, jack points, inner and outer rockers, windshield area, hatch, undercarriage, ect. are all free of rust. The only rust the van has is in the battery tray areas. This was do to leaking batteries. The factory under coating is in excellent condition and has done a good job of preserving the under side of the bus. The under carriage is clean and dry.
POP TOP- The pop top canvas is in exceptional near perfect condition with no cuts or tears. New pop top seal. The upper bunk upholstery still looks new. All of the zippers work great.
INTERIOR- The interior is in excellent original condition. The front seat upholstery is in near mint condition. The factory Riviera plaid front seat covers are removable. Under the plaid seat covers are the MINT factory vinyl seats. The door panels, kick panels and dash are prefect. The door and kick panels have no warpage, this is a sign the van has been garaged most if not all of its life as confirmed by the original owner. Original radio. Overall the interior and camping cabinets are in exceptional condition. The original rare portable propane stove, front cup holder, sliding window screens, jack, and table are all included. This interior lay out is the most desirable of all Riviera's as there are no blind spots. The van has a electric and hand pump with built in sink and electric fridge. The head liner is mint. There is a 9 gallon holding tank for water. You can hook the van up to shore power or fresh water using the factory camping out lets. There is also a 10 gallon removable grey water tank that catches waste water. Two seat belts up front, two seat belts on the rear seat. A additional seat belt can be easily added to the rear facing jump seat. The van has a removable porta potty hidden under the jump seat. Both the original camping interior lights work. Every thing electrical works perfectly.
OTHER- This van has its rare original portable camping stove. I completely disassembled and restored the stove. I powder coated all of the stove tins. The stove conveniently stores under the rear seat when not in use. The stove has a quick release rubber propane hose that is hidden under the jump seat (see pictures). This is a factory option and a clever design feature. Ultra rare rare Riviera dealer brochure. Original fridge manual, ASI Riviera camping interior warranty book, factory 1977 VW bus manual, VW warranty book. New KYB gas shocks front and rear. New front brake pads, rotors, drums, wheel seals, brake lines, wheel cylinders, shoes. New upper and lower ball joints. One key fits all locks. New correct truck load rated Wild Cat 27.8.50 R 14 all terrain tires (90% tread) with matching spare. Dual battery system. New fuel sending unit. The bus handles great, Stops excellent. The suspension and steering is tight.
This is a very stunning and desirable bus. Solid investment. Its getting very hard to find 100% original paint low mile original survivors in this kind of original condition. I prefer the nice original buses over the restored as you know what your getting. This van would be perfect for car shows, the center piece of your collection, reliable daily driver, or use it for your cross country camping adventures. The bus needs nothing. This bus is a no stories low mile original paint survivor that you just don't see every day. Solid, dry, West Coast bus. Maintained and cared for since new w/ detailed maintenance and repair history included. One of the very best original low mile survivors anywhere. I am regretfully selling to finish the restoration on my 1965 VW Bus.

*** I will be happy to answer any questions over the phone, by email, or in person. Personal or professional inspections of the van can be done before the end of the auction. I can also store the van in my garage as long as you need free of charge prior to shipping.
