1981 Volkswagen Bus/Vanagon Westfalia Additional Info:
I'm selling my 1981 Vanagon Westfalia. It's a fun car. Driven everyday for the last 4 years. Only selling because mechanically this van is good to go. I'm planning on buying a hardtop vanagon and doing a subaru swap. Thousands invested. The van runs great. Drives straight and stops on a dime. This is important because the vast majority of vans on the market have major reliability or safety issues. Everything mechanically with the exception of the longblock has been replaced (compression tests good). The van has also been upgraded with a 200 watt solar system and an electric fridge (the stock fridges do not work at all). This fridge will run 24hrs a day forever if you want to keep cold drinks or food in the van. Body has minimal rust. Nothing on the frame or floor pan. One panel has some rust at a seam that will need to be repaired. I never did it because the paint looks nice now and I figured that would be best done when the van gets a respray.
Recently passed smog, so your good for two years. Although the smog guy said it passed with flying colors on the first round. It too 5 minutes and he said he never saw one of these pass that well.
