1962 AMC American Deluxe Additional Info:

Unrestored, two-owner 1962 Rambler American Deluxe, 88,000 original miles. Engine rebuilt at 70,000. I bought it from the original owners.
Deluxe = base model
L-head 196 six and three on the tree, no overdrive.
No cigar lighter or radio
In the last year (less than 1,500 miles), the following was done:
Front suspension completely rebuilt with ALL NEW parts (any Rambler guy will know the expense of this - $3500 including parts and labor).
Gas tank dropped, cleaned, sealed and replaced with new filler hose.
New tires, including spare, and wheels painted in original color
New trunk mat and rear seat back (between seat and trunk)
New windshield ($800 including installation - finding one was half the fun)
New front seat upholstery and new foam in NOS material exactly matching rear seat ($500 including installation)
New clutch
New axles and differential seals
New U-joints
New rear spring shackles
New front brakes, cylinders, rotors, and lines
New water pump, temperature sending unit, thermostat, and temperature gauge voltage regulator
New belt and hoses
New battery and battery cables
New exhaust and muffler
ALL fluids and filters flushed and changed (two oil changes - I do this every six months regardless of mileage), four-wheel alignment and lubrication
Complete tune-up
Anyone who knows me knows I keep everything on my cars in perfect running condition, and if it needs fixing or replacing, I get it done.
The bad news - it really could use a paint job if you want to show it. The last one was in the 1980s. The car shows well enough as a driver. I wouldn't hesitate to drive it anywhere. It gets more than 30 mpg.
I have all the receipts for all the work. I am moving in four months, so I am thinning the herd.
