1962 AMC Rambler Deluxe Additional Info:
1962 Rambler American Deluxe. I love this car! It gets so much attention! Unfortunately, I hate shifting the standard three speed transmission, its got to go to a new home.
The car is in excellent mechanical condition. The front end was rebuilt, new clutch installed, motor rebuilt at 70,000 miles, The car has 5 new tires too. The only mechanical issue I've noticed is the vac wiper motor needs a rebuild. The wipers work but take forever to return to the down position. All the gauges, lights, door locks, window regulators are operational.
The major work needed is a new paint job, new front windshield gaskets, rear windscreen gaskets and a new trunk gasket. The roof is in really good shape and doesn't need paint but the rest of the car is peeling and chipping. There are two spots on both front fenders that are starting to form rust spots which should be taken care of right away before becoming major rust. The windshield was recently replaced but the installer failed to seal it properly, so it leaks. The rear windscreen seal leaks and water has damaged the rear seat parcel shelf. The trunk seal was also replaced but not fitted properly and leaks a small about of water on to the trunk floor.
The car just passed Massachusetts state inspection. I would have no issue with taking it on a long trip.I have copies of the receipts for all recent mechanical work. I can forward them to you if interested. Any questions about his car read the October 2016 issue of Hemmings Classic Car magazine. The car was the featured ride report for that month. Feel free to contact me as well.
