1949 Willys Jeepster 2 DR Jeepster PHAETON Additional Info:
I bought this 1949 Jeepster in Tennessee in 1959 and my wife and I drove it as a second car until 1980 (moving it from Tennessee, to Kansas, to Kentucky, to Michigan and back to Tennessee as I changed jobs). My son and I started to restore it in 1980 and removed the fenders, grille, hood, motor, transmission, etc. I bought the parts to rebuild the engine and started the teardown. In late 1980 I changed jobs and moved back to Tennessee from Michigan. All the small parts including the engine rebuild parts were put into foot lockers and shipped back to Tennessee with the Jeepster in January, 1981. It has been stored in my basement garage with nothing else being done to it for the last 35 years. There is very little, if any rust, on it with the exception of the front floor pans. When we stopped driving it in 1980 everything was working. Obviously, since it has been sitting in the same place for 35 years a lot of work will need to be done to get it running again. Since I sold my house, I had to load the Jeepster on a trailer and move to my son's business.
