Very good condition 1984 Volvo 245 4 speed wagon with front end flat hood conversion. Vehicle also has the rare 16 inch Volvo rims, and they havenearly new Goodyear Eagles.4 speed.Great everyday runner or candidate for a high end restoration.Very good mechanical condition.Runs well, and is economical. Everything on this 245 is genuine OEM.This Colorado car has never seen road salt, as the dry climate has kept it solid. Overall, I rank the following areas realistically this way: Underside of car is literally 9/10. Bottom of doors is 9.5/10. Body panels are 8/10, interior 7/10. Engine & transmission & clutch are 8/10. It is actually a GL model as it has power windows, center armrest, etc.
Positive features & upgrades: installed flathood from late 70's 240...along with this project I have replaced the headlight buckets, bezels and grille to complete the retro look.(Note: if you would rather have the original hood--which is in excellent condition--as well as the buckets/bezels & grille to change it back, I will provide it to you, or change it for you).Flat hood white color doesn't quite match white chassis color--it's lighter--see photos. I installed OEM all black turbo trim at beltline level. Replaced rear seat bottom. Installed set of tan OEM floor trays.Glove box has lock & key. Clutch has been replaced some time ago (I don't have the date).Included with the car is a tan third seat with along with installation instructions and all the hardware & seat belts. All lights, turn signals, wipers, power windows, etc. work. Another great feature of the car is that it is a "slicktop" which is preferable to most people--in other words, no factory roof rack was ever installed, so there were no holes to patch. People like to put their own custom roof racks on these for bikes, sailboards, surfboards, etc. Original working Volvo radio. Included are all the original manuals, etc. information. Front seats are out of a Volvo 240 GT (buyer could sell the front seats as they are rare, and replace with tan ones if desired). Again, the rims are upgraded...these are OEM 16 inch Volvo wheels (part number ) with lower profile Goodyear Eagle tires. (Typical 240 models come with the significantly undersized 14 inch rims). The tires have only about 3,000 miles them...you can still see the new tire"hairs" (technically called vent spews).Ceiling is clean and has no tears.
Overall, this vehicle is incredibly solid. See photos of rocker panels for an idea of how rust-free the undercarriage is. Floor panels underneath are excellent. Original working Volvo radio.A really nice set of floor trays included, and twospare map pockets are includedas they canbreak easily.Needs/issues...dash has the typical cracks in it. Windshieldhas cracks in it.Body needs minor attention, hood needs some attention too, especially in the passenger side corner near windshield...it has bending on it...could use a little expertise--see picture of underside of hood for more of an idea. Car has aslight cologne smell--its not unpleasant, and "Frebreze" has taken a lot of it away. As expected with an 84 model, there are little dings, dents and additional very small corrosion spots which appear on the car and I have not attempted to hide any of them in the photos. The push button switch for the 5th gear could use replacement. Runs a comfortable 65-70 mph in 4th, andoccasionally it will work in 5th gear. Many people just don't use their push button 5th gears, finding them unnecessary. Driver's door closes more difficult than it should...hinges are sluggish and/or door strike plate is an issue. Drivers seat belt at times needs a slow pull to come out/release. Rear trunk lid stuck in locked position...opens by releasing from inside. The heat gauge in the instrument cluster does not work...car does not overheat, however. I'm not sure why it doesn't work. There are several small holes in rear muffler--which makes a slight sound, but not loud or annoying. Car is trustworthy and decent looking.
No reserve.
Note: Auto writers are saying that the Volvo 240 wagon is the next VW bus in terms of collectible worth, practicality, and they already have quite a fan base. Notice that they are in the background of just about every movie.
There is a good airport in our town of Montrose, Colorado. Also I could probably make arrangements to meet you at the Grand Junction Airport (larger regional airport) north of us on Interstate 70.
