1973 Volvo 1800ES 1800ES Additional Info:
Well, the time has come to sell the old Volvo sportwagon. I parked it a couple of years ago when the fuel pump went bad, and it doesn't look like I'm going to get around to fiddling with it. It was a good driver before the fuel pump died, and it shouldn't take much to get it back on the road—a new fuel pump, a new battery, and maybe a few other fixits. It is, after all, a 43-year-old car with over 117,000 miles on it. It might be a good candidate for a thorough restoration, as it is reasonably straight and has never been wrecked. It's got the standard B20-F fuel-injected four-cylinder engine with a manual four-speed transmission and electric overdrive.
The body does have bubbles of rust starting in the usual places, but nothing too serious just yet; there are a few minor parking-lot dings as well. The car was re-painted its original yellow a number of years ago by a previous owner, and it's a real quality paint job that still takes a shine nicely.
The front seats have been replaced with a pair of red leather seats out of a Mazda RX7, but the original black leather seats are included in the sale. Both sets show some wear and could stand to be reupholstered. The car is fitted with a Moto-Lita wood-rim steering wheel, but the original wheel is included as well. Your driving gloves are stashed in the glove compartment between the seats. The sound system is an aftermarket Alpine AM/FM/cassette player. The sun visors are missing, but if you're a tall driver they tend to obscure your vision anyway.
Take a look at the prices the ever-popular 1800ES is commanding nowadays, and consider this example, which for a comparatively small investment and a little elbow grease could be a great little rig for you.
