1989 Volvo 240 DL - More pics coming soon!
I have too many cars and my wife and I live in an apartment...not a good combination. I bought this Volvo a couple of years ago as a fun second car and I bought a hatchback last fall because I needed to haul my music equipment around.
Runs pretty well but could use a tuneup and O2 sensor again soon. Usually starts on the first crank, sometimes takes two if it's been sitting for a few days. Tires, headlights, headlight bulbs, radiator, water pump, coolant pipe, a coolant hose, spark plug wires, shocks, struts, and engine mounts installed in the last year and a half. Battery less than a month old. There's a CD player and aux cable installed in the dash that will stay with the car and a pair of speakers in trunk that may or may not go with it. There's also rough cutouts in the shelf behind the rear seats to install speakers and wiring run through the trim out of sight.
The car needs a few things, but honestly most of the parts are in the trunk. I had hopes of restoring it and started to, but haven't really had the time or place to work on it much lately. New front calipers, rotors, and pads are in the trunk, along with rear bushings, a transmission mount, fuel filter (current one rusted in place), spare water pump, steering knuckle, and maybe some other parts. I'll have to check again. It's a little rattle-y right now and the brakes are weak, but the spare parts would take care of most of it.
Body has minimal rust except around the rear wheel wells. and a little along the bottom of the doors. Rear bumper is just a skin (aluminum corroded and broke when someone hit it in my parking lot), and there's a shallow but large dent on the driver door from a hit and run on the street (clear pic coming soon). Clear coat on the roof is fading but most of the paint is in great shape.
I'll miss my Swedish brick. It was all I ever wanted as a kid and I'm still a big fan, but my 5-speed Saab hatchback is my current love. There is technically still a lien on the title because of how I bought it, but that can be resolved in a day with payment.
