1967 Volvo P1800 Additional Info:
NO RESERVE AUCTION !!!! HIGHEST BID WINS !!!!
You're looking at a 1967 Volvo P1800. It has a clean (no liens) California title in my name. It has been sitting since 1988. A great car for restoration. The odometer reads 06416, but the actual mileage is unknown.
When I bought the car, the bumpers were off. They sent them out to be straightened and rechromed and never mounted them. They were inside the car when I bought it. They are straight and shiny, but have some imperfections in them. I could not find the rubber impact strips. I sandblasted, primered and painted the wheels. The wheels are all dated 1966. The hubcaps are shiny but have dents. The tires hold air but are old and should be replaced once it's up and driving. One of the headlights is a Cibie. The other is an old T3 headlight.
The black California plates are original to the car; however they cannot be used with the car. The DMV indicated it was because I had no proof of them being on the car.
All the glass is good and original. The door glass rolls up and down nice. The windshield has two small chips. One is on the driver side and the other on the passenger side. The car had aftermarket aluminum body side trim on the sides. The best part is they put it in line where the original stainless goes, so once you install the original trim, some of the holes will be hidden.
The interior is in decent shape. No rips in the seats or door panels. The carpet is faded. It could possibly be dyed. The headliner is nice, no tears. The dash pad is in poor shape due to the California sun. It has a factory AM/FM radio and is an air condition car. The compressor and ac suitcase are in the trunk. The emergency brake works great. It looks like it's only been repainted once, the same color red. It will need paint. The original side body trim is missing one door piece. The trim has a lot of dents and dings in them. The body is straight. All the rust is shown in the pictures. The gas door and battery box areas will need to be replaced (no gas door lid). The trunk torsion rod is broken on the passenger side, so you have to use a prop to hold the trunk open.
The aluminum tag under the hood reads:
183451 M Type 46 Color 308 - 501 Upholstery
It has a high compression motor with overdrive. Cast into the motor block are the numbers:
4968 KBG 419330 B 18
Stamped on two pads are the numbers: 4 2 and 3 9 2
On the head, the cast numbers are: KAG 1 - 418205
H 17 6
There are no signs of the car ever having been wrecked. I put a new battery in it (battery not included), put on an auxiliary fuel can to the fuel pump, sanded the points down, and it started right up. I also lubed the carbs. The oil looked brand new. No smoke or noises. It sounded really good. The car does not drive.I had a new key made for the ignition, but the ignition does not turn to the right. It turns to the left to the auxiliary power, but it does not turn the motor over. I believe it needs a new ignition or the cable needs to be lubed, or a different ignition coil system needs to be installed. It rolls easy and stops with the emergency brake.
To sum it up, it has not been molested. It's all original and all here. I wish I had the room to keep it and watch it go up in value. It's a great restoration project car and a great investment.
