For sale is my 1974 Volkswagen Westfalia Campmobile Deluxe (VW Bus) with approximately 118k original miles (5-digit odometer) and a clean Washington State title in my name. This bus is in great condition and is a desirable “late bay window" model in a rare and sought after specification, Orange on Orange with every factory option (deluxe model). Being a deluxe means this bus has a functional stove with propane tank, power sink (instead of hand pump), power refrigerator (instead of icebox), as well as a movable storage box that can be used as a step to get to the upper bed. All equipment functions properly and are used regularly. Being a later Westfalia model the bus has a bed in the pop top that can sleep 2 people (unlike earlier forward hinged pop-top models), safer crash-structure in the front, power front disk brakes (brand new), as well as the reliable type 4 engine (a bit more power but still quite slow). This bus in particular was sold new in California until the 1990’s when the previous owner to me brought it to Washington State. As a result, the bus is very clean all around with the only rust spots being a small section near the windshield and a spot where the aux battery leaked during previous ownership (this spot does not go into the wheel arch or battery tray, only the side). See photos. There is also a little on the surface in the usual location under the foot step pad. Still completely solid. The bus has been repainted at one point with a few cosmetic flaws due to regular use, however it presents quite nicely particularly for a bus of this era. While the bus was already in very good shape when I purchased it, I have had numerous items refreshed under my ownership. Mechanically, the bus has its original engine with all cold-start components working properly (including thermostat). Oil changes and valve adjustments have been done every 3,000 miles per factory spec. I also had a full inspection done by a local shop (Franklin’s VW Werks) who serviced the bus last year and gave it a clean bill of health in preparation for a camping trip to California/Nevada. The bus comes with a binder full of invoices for parts and service done to the bus since I have owned it. A few recent items include: Brand new front disk brake setup (calipers, pads, rotors) Front and rear brake hoses, brake fluid Full ignition system refresh (spark plugs, distributor points, cap, rotor condenser (all Bosch) Engine timing All vacuum lines replaced including brake booster hoses (important) All fuel lines replaced including the difficult fuel breather lines (very important) Fuel filler neck and filler hose replaced Shifter bushings replaced New H4 headlights installed Retractable seatbelts New intake manifold gaskets Rebuilt factory Solex carbs New CV joint/boot New Starter switch New Batteries - Both Main and Auxiliary Hankook Vantra LT tires all around (these are the proper commercial weight rating for a bus which helps tremendously with handling and stability. As well as many small cosmetic updates (new cab carpet, cabinet handles, kick panels, seals, etc). As is the case with these old buses there are a couple of items I would like to note for the next owner. One of the taillights is out on the passenger side (I can have this looked at). Radio does not work, we use a bluetooth speaker. Overall, this bus is a very sorted and original example that has many of the common issues with these vehicles already addressed. Included with the bus are its original owners manuals (one for the bus itself and the other for the camper equipment), original Westfalia ‘child’s cot’ that goes over the front seats and can be used for extra storage, original Westfalia rear hatch screen if you want to camp with the rear hatch open, fire extinguishers (the original one that came with the deluxe package, as well as a brand new one for safety), original jack and tool roll, two sets of keys (all original so ignition and doors use the same key which is nice, gas cap has its own key), cable for campground power to plug into bus, VW books, spare parts.
