1979 Volkswagen Bus/Vanagon Additional Info:
This is my first time selling avehicle on Ebay so bear-with me...
Up for bid/BIN is my 1979 VW Westfalia Bus "Forrest" located inNorfolk, VA. We made 3 videos which provides for a nice-walk around, andtwodriving videos. It was much easier to talk then type all this stuff. Youtube " 1979 VW BUS NORFOLK" I will try to link at the end of the description.
I'm just going to start rambling and see wherethis takes me. And buddy and I purchased this from ourneighbor Mr. Tibbets. He was getting old and the bus was sitting in his driveway so we figure we would do something with it. According to the paperwork the bus showed up in El Paso, Texasfrom the VW manufacturer and was purchased by aservice member and made it's way BACK to Frankfurt, Germany in 80. In 1985 it came back stateside and was registered in Newport News, VA. Mr Tibbets purchased it in 1993 from Mr. Gay. It has approx 96Koriginal miles on him. That's pretty much the back-story. Check out the pic of all theoriginal manuals andmaintenance paperwork.
We purchased the bus with the intent toget itback on the road and put it up for sale. Has aclean VA title in my name.
We did the following:All the stuff mentioned hereis NEW.
Front tire coverTires - 215/70R14 with a load index of 96 (light truck - not that crappy passenger stuff)Canvas Top from Bus DepotFront rotors and calipers / fluidRear shoesStainless Steel side mirrorsRadio AntennaHeadlightsReartail-light housingsGerman 7mm fuel line wrapped in heat-shield
Other goodies:Full tune-up to include: new plus, wires, cap, rotor, condenser, fuel filter, oil, brake fluid and valves adjusted (yes you can adjust hydraulic lifters)Cleaned and rebuilt carburetorPulled engine to check condition of clutch and cleaned and painted all engine tinIncludes tow hitch and some interior privacy screen and magnetic bug screens
Outside:Was originally Kermit Green. Was painted forest green in 1997. It does have rust in rear quarter-panel by battery compartment and in front driver and passenger step area. Also has misc. rust bubbles along lower edge(see pics and video) Paint isn't too bad, a good 10-footer!
Inside:Pretty much all original and unmolested - kermit plaid. Has all the camping accoutrements with the 2nd bed up top, the sink, the electrical hookups etc.
Motor:Was apparently refreshed 2k ago. Doesn't smoke and idles well- once again, check out the youtube videos. It drips a little oil- it's a VW - it's what they do. Probably a pushrod tube.
What else? Steers and drives like a bus, it weighs like 4K pounds so it floats and kinda bounces slowly. It's definitely not a speed machine so don't plan on breaking any land speed records anytime soon.
