1967 Karmann Ghia ConvertiblePurchased by my father-in-law in March of 2016. He had been searching for a very original, rust free 1967 Karmann Ghia convertible for well over two years before he and I discovered this car for sale in my neighborhood. He drove the car every weekend from Yorba Linda to Newport Beach with his grandchild until he suffered a massive stroke in March of 2020. The stroke left him completely paralyzed on his right side and also gave him apraxia and aphasia, leaving him unable to drive. The cost for his 24 hour care has burned through all his savings so we are now having to sell his personal possessions, including this car. Due to the sentimental nature of the car it has been stored in my warehouse for the past 4 years, started and run for 10-15 minutes each month.Since he was driving my son in the car each weekend, he spared no expense to make sure the VW was as safe and reliable as a 50+ year old car could be. He had all systems thoroughly inspected and any/ all repairs and maintenance done by Sparks Performance in San Juan Capistrano, California. The car runs like a top and everything works as it should. Most desirable year for the Ghia before emissions constraints. It has nice, thick paint but has some chips and nicks from regular driving. It looks like the car was repainted several years before he purchased it but we had the car inspected for rust by a professional before the purchase was completed. The largest blemish is at the lower edge of the passengers door. Car looks practically perfect from 10 feet and can be enjoyed as- is or repainted if you choose. All glass is good, chrome could use a good polishing but is all original and in great condition. The two- tone interior had been redone before my father in law purchased the vehicle and it really looks nice, including the door panels and carpet. No rips or tears. Aftermarket CD layer with Sirius radio and speakers sound great. The tan top functions properly but could us a little cleaning. The top has a small tear on driver's side where it meets the door sill. The top was rarely ever put up as the car was only driven on nice days and always stored inside his garage. The underside of the car is clean and is NOT covered in any undercoating- nothing is hidden with this car. Body and frame are rust free. This VW is peppy, shifts great and stops like new. Also has four new tires with less than 1,000 miles. This is the most desirable year of Ghia ever built and there were only 4,183 examples built. Not sure whether the mileage is original or not but it very well could be. The car spent its whole life in Southern California based on the information the previous seller had given to us. If you're looking for a very clean, very original 1967 Karmann Ghia convertible that can be driven and enjoyed as- is or restored to concours quality, this might be what you're looking for. This VW is located at my warehouse in Orange, California and I'm happy to make myself available if you would like to check it out. Clean title.
