Head turning 1971 Westy primarily used as a weekend warrior for day trips to the coast, attending special local events, quick overnight camping, and general tooling around the city. Additional possibilities are endless such as more and different excursions, tailgating, local shows, some type of a business opportunity, or further customize the bus to the next level.
Engine reliably starts right up and is always confidently ready to roll and go out for a drive. Garage kept with many new parts, upgrades, and accessories all within the last couple of years. One of a kind painted graphics with patina style character and semi-retro original interior vibe finishes the overall look. A clean title and professional local business work receipts are in hand.
Observations and additional notes:
- The bus is not 100% rust free in the the classic VW bus areas. For example windshield area, engine bay, back cargo area (see pictures).- The previous owner removed the reverse lock out plate. This DOES NOT affect driving and DOES NOT prevent the vehicle from going in reverse. This simply means that downshifting from 3rd gear to 2nd gear requires the driver to be a little more precise as not to go too far left. I never installed a lock out plate because it was and is not a big issue for me at all.- The following items are there but not currently hooked up: Radio/speakers, horn, outlet, sink water spout- I have the original front and passenger seats if you want them included. The fabric is in rough shape, but very cool nonetheless.- I have the original seat belts if you want them included.- I have the original rear snap in mosquito netting if you want it included (fair condition, see picture)- I have the original hardware and canvas for the cabin area hammock (fair condition, see picture)- Convenient tumble hardware was installed for the drivers seat so that it can easily be tilted forward if access to the brake fluid reservoir is ever needed.
