1985 Volkswagen Bus/Vanagon Additional Info:
1985 Volkswagen Westfalia 4 spd manual with a freshly installed rebuilt 1.9 water cooled engine. The new engine has less than a thousand miles on it. I bought this van in 2016 for $17k and put a lot of money and time into making this van an amazing adventure mobile. It passed smog this summer with flying colors.
The vehicle is great to drive and is ready to go!
- low miles on the vehicle: 110k original miles (third owner, clean title, odomoter is fully functioning)
- Rebuilt engine installed in July 2018 (AVP brand— this is what Bus Depot sells) less than 1000 miles on new engine. Have engine receipt
- clutch, water pump, catalytic converter, plugs, cap, radiator, and a bunch of other random parts and hoses were installed this summer when the engine was put in. Intake manifold was removed, sandblasted, and repainted. Have receipts for new parts
- Yokohama Geolander all terrain tires installed at the same time as engine
- Gowesty Solar Hookup was installed 2017. I am including a Renology 100w solar panel. There are two batteries in the vehicle. Engine battery was replaced last summer and beneath the bench seat there is an inverter and marine battery (batt replaced this summer) that powers an outlet. This is great for charging phones, laptops, etc on the go
- Blazecut fire suppression system installed 2016 above engine. Check out YouTube to see how awesome this is
- fridge, stove, and sink all function
- including the Yeti Tundra 45 cooler, nato gas can, rock straps, and fire extinguisher, and 100w Renology Solar panel
- Yakima racks installed 2016
- interior is in good condition, bed functions, no major stains in vehicle
- stereosystem upgraded by last owner
- the fiberglass top is in great condition. The tent is okay condition. I thought about replacing the tent but to be honest I’ve camped in it a bunch and never had any problems.
- paint is clean. No major dents. Minor spots and specks here and there but no major rust or cancer. There are three spots that had very very minor surface rust which were removed. Anti rust stopping paint was applied in those areas (see pics) I had planned to repaint those spots but they didn’t bother me in the least. See pics they are very minor.
- Upgraded to the larger GoWesty wheels a few years ago and this made a major improvement in handling. Including spare wheel
- including Bus Depot insulated window covers. See pics for the advertisement and what it looks like in a Vanagon. This is great for stealth camping as well as keeping your vehicle cool in summer and warm in the winter
I can’t think of anything else, but feel free to ask questions. This car is a lot of fun to drive, camp, and adventure in. I hope the next owner enjoys it as much as I do.
