1981 Volkswagen Rabbit Additional Info:
I’m selling my 1981 Rabbit convertible because I don't drive it very often. It's a fun, reliable car that is ready to be a daily driver or weekend cruiser...
Highlights:ABA Engine Swap preformed by Everything Auto in Winston Salem, NC (September 2016)Techtronics Tuning Stainless Steel Cat Back Exhaust System (September 2016)Refurbished Wheels (November 2016)Tires in great condition (November 2016)Top replaced in 2010 - no holes or leaks.Vehicle starts reliably, recently passed NC state inspection, and has a clean title!
The vehicle had an ABA swap done by Everything Auto in Winston Salem in September 2016. Includes Techtronics Tuning Stainless Steel Cat Back Exhaust System. It received refinished wheels and new tires shortly after. In September 2017 Finish Line Motorworks in Fairview, NC repaired a wiring harness and essentially cleaned up all of the wiring in the dash. Dash lights, blower motor, and other electronics are working. Odometer was sent away in mid-2017 for repair, so it’s working, as is the speedometer. Tires were new as of 2016. I have paperwork associated with the upgrades and repairs.
Vehicle is relatively clean inside and out, and it starts reliably. May require two tries if it’s under 20 outside. Top is in great shape – no holes or leaks...I've driven it in heavy rain with no water coming inside.
There are splits in the front seat upholstery and there is minor cosmetic body damage on the right front fender. See photos. Vehicle has a slow coolant leak that I've made no effort to diagnose.
As part of the ABA swap, the A/C was deleted, so no A/C, but you won't miss it with the top down! Aftermarket stereo has a short in the detachable faceplate...It works if you jiggle it. I never cared to replace it, but the wiring going into the stereo is intact and tested, and it's wired for a quick aftermarket replacement if you're into that.
Clean title. Current on state inspection. Manual transmission. Manual steering. Odometer reads as 113,719, but it wasn’t working when I purchased the vehicle (and isn’t reflective of the engine swap). I have a Carfax I’m happy to share from August 2016. The vehicle has been garaged and driven occasionally around town since that time. Black boot cover and owner's manual included.
