1981 Volkswagen Rabbit Additional Info:
Thanks for checking out the auction.
I have had this vehicle for about 5 years now. It has a newer 1.9L VW Diesel (non-turbo) that was bought new in 2007 from GEX International. I have the receipt for the engine. The engines sell for $5500. The odometer doesn't work anymore, but there is a tractor-style hours meter. The meter reads 2400 hours. I figure that's somewhere around 75,000 miles. No leaks, smoke, or issues with the engine.
The truck body is what it is. Nothing pretty about it. I am assuming you can tell the condition of the body is poor. It likes to leak water into the cab. Drilled holes in the floor. This is a rig for me that I bum around town in. I don't care what it looks like, but I keep the engine and drive train in good shape. Spent $1700 at a reputable classic VW shop in town the year before last and they fixed a lot of drive train issues. Its been driving good since.
I sometimes take it on longer trips (5 or so hours). Runs like a champ. Can reach between 70-80mph if you aren't going up hill. Its 60-70mph if you are going up hill.
Value is in the engine, obviously.
Let me know if you have questions.
