1973 Volkswagen Bus/Vanagon hardwood trim interior Additional Info:
PLEASE view YouTube video of our 73VW Garden Party Bus at the tag at bottom of description.
This is our 1973 VW Transporter Bus that we have owned since Sept 1991-- Over the years we have taken good care of this vehicle It was mainly used by members of our family on short DAY trips throughout Long Island NY and NJ and Conn. Loved traveling to vineyards for cheese and wine festivals. 2 years ago- the engine threw a rod and the Chestnut Beauty was put in our garage.
She will need an ENGINE along with Brakework and Wiring-brittle with age.Auto Trans was fine when last parked.
The Chestnut Brown still shines- as you can see in the pics and the video- but there are a few rusted body areas that are common on VW Buses that will require attention. The Last 4 pics show these areas that need attention. Overall-the paint is still in really nice condition with a very deep shine that reflects everything around it - including my lattice fencing in my backyard-as you can see.
The front and rear bumpers were repainted and decal stripes applied just prior to the Bus' engine failure. Custom orange and gold decal graphics were applied which we thought would go well with the Chestnut Brown Exterior
The interior was Re done in 2012 with hardwood trim along the interior belt line and full matching tweed fabric panels behind the driver and passenger seats. Fabric accent panels are on each front door panel and interior sliding door and rear seating area (where arm rests were) NOS arm rests come with the Bus if you prefer to attach them in place of the fabric accent panels. Your choice.Also- we had the interior rear deck lid accented with matching hardwood and mini fabric panels.
The interior seating front and rear have the matching Brown/Beige tweed fabric throughout. We really like how the whole interior matches. My wife came up with the idea of adding Brown Checked Curtain throughout- to have the interior look like a booth in a typical Italian Restaurant. She added the plastic flower vine along the upper window area. The decorative white lattice panels-5 in number- are held by flat brass clips that literally remove in mere seconds. I only need to remove the rear deck lid lattice since it is the only one that is attached outside prior to driving.
Headliner is in very nice condition-- all glass is very good-- rubber window seals getting a little hard but no leaks.
Dash is in near excellent condition- Windshield is still very nice- Glove box is very nice.
Tires are 10 years old
Floor boards are solidFrame--- is really pretty good with a few rust holes in the usual spots--- pics avail.Roof is in very good condition--- rain rails inner and outer are excellent.
Tires are 10 years old-
Van comes with 2 folding hardwood tables 19"x13" ---1 walnut Wine and Cheese table 26"x 16" and a Hardwood Seat Table "20x 15" -all lace tablecloths and floral tablecloth included. All tables and Canopy store neatly behind rear seats on rear decklid next to Reconditioned Spare Tire Cover.
The wall lamp is wired for 12 volt usage with special bulb included.
Matching Canopy 3' x 5' with polls included- sets up in 2 minutes- great for shade when dining.
In closing this VW van was enjoyed by friends and family members - Many happy memories of places we visited and people we met. I hope that the new owner will enjoy the Bus as much as we have and take her to even more interesting and happy places. Enjoy and God bless.
