1966 Volkswagen Beetle - Classic Additional Info:
Please read the entire description before asking questions or bidding.
I am selling my 99 Mexican Beetle (legally titled as a 1966). I am the second owner. It has 28k km on it (17k miles). It is in excellent shape. never any body work or paint.
The car was imported into the United States when it was new in 1999. It was first registered and titled in Ohio by the first owner as a 1966 VW. It is nowregistered in NY state. NY does not issue titles for cars over 15 years old, instead they issue a "Transferable Registration" that acts as a title. Since this car is legally a 1966 model it has a Transferable Registration.
This car has never been driven in the winter and only used in nice weather since new. The only changes from new are new alternator, EMPI shifter and upgraded accelerator pedal and clutch pedal shaft from Classic Bug Parts (these 3 changes make it drive much more like a modern car).
These original Beetles were made in Mexico up until 2004. They are called the "Vocho" in Mexico. They are rear wheel drive and have air cooled fuel injected 1600cc engines and are nearly identical to original Beetles made in the early 70's. The advantage is that you have better reliability and drivability than an old Beetle.
This Beetle runs and drives great and can be used as a daily driver. It is legally registered as a 1966 VW based on the floor pan (an I shaped piece of the 1966 car) that was installed by BeetleMex in 1999. Do a little research on the web if you want to know more about Beetlemex Mexican Beetles in the US. Beetlemex legally imported these before production of the Beetle ended in 2004.

There are very few classic cars that you can drive everyday, are reliable, get great gas mileage, and are fun to drive.

The car is also listed on Craigslist in Ithaca NY and may sell before the end of the auction.
