1973 Volkswagen Thing Additional Info:
This Thing turns heads every time I drive it. It's been kept in a car port last 5 years and only driven in good weather conditions. Fires up immediately and runs strong. The person who did the original restoration (restored in New Mexico) added a roll bar, front disk brake conversion, 15" standard bug wheels and rhino-lined the interior as well as a beefy front brush guard bumper. Some of his bondo work/paint is imperfect so won't win shows but was solidly done and there is no rust even after 8 years. Even the floors are rust free. The paint is faded on hood and has some small dings here and there that you would expect from a driver car. Original engine. Has functioning original gas heater! Newer top with no rips as well as a bikini top which is how I drive it. Door hinges replaced with mirror mount so you can go doorless and still have mirrors. Seats were upgraded to super beatle seats and I custom made denim covers so they don't get hot in the sun. Windshield wiper motor works but wiper fluid doesn't. I started to put in an electric wiper fluid system but never hooked it up. I've added a trunk luggage rack and wood strips. The only thing I would do if I were keeping it is replace the speedo cable/cluster. Comes with some spare parts, VW survival kit (extra fuel lines, belt, fuses, bulbs etc) restoration and parts purchase records and repair manuals.
