1979 Volkswagen Beetle - Classic Additional Info:
This 1979 Super Beetle convertible was restored in the year 2000 in California by West Coast Metric. It received a thorough going over and was restored to have as many parts as possible that were original to the car when it rolled off of the factory floor. Even the smallest details are there. The engine has been reliable since I bought it in the year 2007. It has always been kept in the garage and has never been driven in wet conditions. The pan is solid with an undercoating to keep it that way. The body is solid, there is no sign of rust. The 1600 cc engine runs strong, the transmission is great, the clutch fresh, the brakes were replaced in 2017. It has electronic ignition and has been equipped with updated emissions equipment that make it run nearly as clean as a more modern car. It has an upgraded stereo with kick panel speakers, AM/FM radio, and a cassette player which can be used with an adapter to play music from an iPhone or other device that has a 3.5 mm headphone jack. It has recently been driven over 100 miles on a 106 F degree afternoon without incident which is a testament to the durability of the Volkswagen engine. The seat upholstery, carpets, and headliner are in very good condition with no functional or visual imperfections. The canvas convertible top and all related parts are in very good condition. The exterior paint is in good condition and shines well after a wash. The tires and battery are new. Hubcaps are stock and in great condition with no scratches. Overall, a great looking, reliable, and very fun car to own. Driving it with the top down is a blast and the car receives lots of loving attention from people who see it.
I am selling the car because this year it has not passed the strict emissions requirements set forth by the State of California. Cars built after the year 1975 are required to pass a smog emissions test in order to be driven or sold in California. Thus, this car needs to be owned by someone who can register it in another state.

The recent smog test failed because the timing was off.
