1967 VW Beetle
"The Rusty Surfer"
This is a truly unique one of a kind Beetle that can never be replicated. Its a rolling work of art and a tribute to the Surfing Era of the 60's. I can't drive this anywhere without people taking pictures of it, giving me a thumbs up or just turning their head to stare. It just plain makes people happy to see it and it makes you feel good about life just to be able to drive it.
The story - it started as a 1967 Beetle which is the best year of the Beetle and already collectible as 1967 was a 1 year only model year. I believe the paint just to be about 8 years old and cost $4,000. It is one of the coolest paint jobs I have ever seen - pure rusty patina with "rust" in all the right spots and a solid car underneath. The entire car was painted inside and out in this unique Rust Theme. Even has a custom Rat Fink painting one the back with a painting of this car to add the perfect custom touch. Since then the various owners have continued to love the car and take it to the next level with their own touches. Adding Vintage Surf Sticker, Rusted Roof Rack with vintage surfboard, metal cooler and suit case. Interior has been done recently with new headliner, carpet and basket weave seat covers. It also has a SCAT shifter and full custom gauges with in dash working Tach, Clock, Temp Gauge, Oil Pressure. Plus all of the dash lights work as well!
Over $3,000 has been spent on it in just the last 90 days with a total engine rebuild, exhaust system (sounds great!), red painted wheels, Continental Contact Tires, Atlas Whitewall Rings, Stereo and Speakers and a Beach Boys Greatest Hits CD just for Fun! Just this weekend it was the center piece for a fund raising event.
The car fires up instantly at the turn of the key and rests into a nice low exhaust note. It cruises easily at highway speed and I would have no issues driving this anywhere. You can see some of the rusty paint has flaked off a little on the hood but it just adds to the patina. This is a car that just gets better with age. I have had a $90,000 Porsche 997.2 and never received near the attention that this car does. It is absolutely the most fun for the money of any car anywhere.
I don't know what else to say about this beauty. I'm in no hurry to sell it as it's easy on the eyes and even easier on the budget. I would love to see this go to a good VW home. It's been in the midwest for most of its life and I think it deserves to see the beaches of California someday.
This is for sale locally and I have the right to end the auction at any time. Feel free to call or text me at (913)271-7100 if you want to talk more about it.
Don't miss out on the opportunity of a lifetime to buy this car. I tracked it for 4 years before I was able to get it. I know of others around the country who have tracked it as well for much longer.
