There are few vehicles that garner as much attention as a Volkswagen Thing. The VW Thing, or Type 181, was designed as an off-road amphibious vehicle for use in the armed forces. What it became was something entirely different.

The Thing is instantly recognizable with its unabashedly boxy lines and spartan appointments. This no-frills approach to open top motoring made it an instant cult classic among beach bums and party goers alike. The Volkswagen Thing, along with its English cousin, the Mini Moke, made its way to beach resorts around the world.

This VW Thing is remarkably solid-showing no signs of rust. This Thing has been mechanically well sorted and is in tip top shape-ready for yet another summer on the cape or on the islands. Better yet, bring her to a more consistently fair-weather climate for a year round beach car! Our mechanics have been over the car and it has a clean bill of health from them. Shipping

We sell many of our cars overseas, to international buyers. We have extensive experience shipping cars abroad and will be happy to help you make arrangements to have your new vehicle picked up and shipped anywhere in the world. Ultimately, shipping costs are the responsibility of the buyer, but we will do anything that we can to make the process easier for you.

Terms

We pride ourselves on the accuracy and detail of our descriptions, and we have many satisfied customers from around the world who have bought cars from us without ever seeing them. However, for those of you not comfortable purchasing a vehicle 'sight-unseen', we are happy to set up an appointment for you to see and drive this car yourself, as well as speak with our manager about it. Full payment is due within 7 days of the auction close by cash in person, bank-wire or another method agreed upon by the Seller. All buyers must contact Seller within 12 hours of the end of the auction or Seller may terminate the Purchase Agreement.
