1965 Volkswagen Bus/Vanagon None Additional Info:
This is a 1965 Volkswagen Bus Single Cab that I recently took in on partial trade for an old Porsche. The vehicle starts, stops and shifts as it should.
The drivetrain appears to be in good working order. The engine runs great and does not smoke or make any weird noises. I have installed a new bosch coil, distributor, fuel pump gasket, alternator (55 amp Bosch reman), drive belt and have performed a tune up including plugs, wires, cap, rotor and points. I have also rewired the engine compartment as the old wiring was crumbling from engine heat. The van has been converted to 12 volt. The engine does leak a little bit of oil after driving and most of these do. It is not an exuberant amount. The transmission shifts nicely and does not make any weird noises. The clutch is very strong.
I have completely redone the front brakes with all new wheel cylinders, hardware & pads. The hydrolic lines look to have been replaced very recently
The interior is in very nice condition. The seats are almost perfect. I have redone all of the interior panels in a custom hounds tooth print. All new backing board was used. The rubber floor mat is the original mat and is starting to deteriorate a bit on the drivers side from dry rot. The speedometer is in working order however the gas gauge is presently not working (I plan to tinker with this and believe I can get it to work). The headlights work nicely as do the tail lights and turn signals. I have installed a new fuse panel and have cleaned much of the wiring. The ignition switch has been replaced with a simple toggle switch and push button (done by the previous owner) and it works well. There is no radio. Underneath the seats is immaculate. The floor boards show some surface rust but are not rusted through at all.
The exterior of the bus is aged as can be seen. It does have bumps and bruises and some areas where rust is starting to reappears. Mostly though, it is a very solid single cab. At some point the rear bed and the underside floor have been replaced using and older style diamond stamped steel. It actually fits the truck very well. I unfortunately no not have the flip down sides. One wheel is painted white as can be seen in the pictures and the rest are green. The tires have 90% tread and are about 2 years old.
I have tried to explain as much as I can here but if you have any questions please feel free to ask. It is a very solid driver and alot of fun. Please be sure to check out the pictures and use the zoom function too see everything.
