You are bidding on a very low mileage (33K original miles) Special Edition Beetle. Just Google "VW 1972 BAHA Champion SE," for much more detail. This particular VW has had a very high quality paint job in the exact "Marathon Blue" original color. All the windows were removed and new rubber kit was installed for the entire car, doors, windows, lights, etc. New fender welting was added as well. I added the new fog lamps but have not wired them in at this time. The floor pans are solid. The car was stored inside all of its life and it shows. The headliner is OK but I would probably redo that as its inexpensive to do. The car runs great and is very tight and responsive. It needs nothing mechanically.
Here is some of the VW Marketing information for this car:
1000 produced during 1972 to commemorate Baja off-road race successes from 1967-1971. A European ‘Marathon’ 1302 Super Beetle inL96M Marathonblau-metallic/Marathon Blue Metallic paintwork, ‘Baja’ wheels (Lemmerz made and named Marathon wheels in Europe). Each wheel with silver wheel nut caps and hexagonal VW aluminium hub covers. Taper tip tail pipes. Dealer installed overriders, ‘Baja’ side stripes, ‘Baja Bug’ logo on engine cover, plaque on glove box lid and optional Bosch halogen driving lamps.
Car featured full American specification, Black Leatherette bucket (high back) seats, full carpeting including trunk area, two-speed fan powered ventilation, rear window defogger, day/night (anti-dazzle) mirror, glove compartment lock and vanity mirror.
