Up for your consideration is a 1969 Triumph GT6 Plus. As you will see in the photos, this car is a perfect candidate foryour nextrestoration project. Afterhaving ranitinto the side of his garage, the previous owner quit driving it and stashed it away where it would set for the next 30 plus years. When I intercepted this car I oiled down the cylinders and cranked it over by hand prior to hooking up a battery and a fuel supply. The car started remarkably easy! Upon start up, I noticed the water pump was noisy and so to get a better feel of things I removed the belt and found no unwanted noises. This 2.0 ~ 6 cylinder is absolutely one of the nicest sounding 6s that I've heard in quitea long time! The carburetors needed no adjustment. The throttle response is crisp and immediate, and though there's a short length of linkage missing, theyappear to beinexcellent condition! It's my understanding that the previous owner had the engine rebuilt not long beforethe garage episode.Being minus a headlight, the days of driving the GT6 were over!I don't know the exact mileage on the engine, but it's my understanding that it isn't many. As said, after the oil I put in the cylinders burned away, there was no unwanted smoke, knocks or rattles.I will say thoughthat amuffler is a must! The smack on the left front looks much worse than what it really is. Once the outerfender skin is removed, the hood itself should straighten out nicely! Order up an outerskin, attach it back in place and you'll be on your way! The 4 speed non overdrive transmission will need the "shifter kit" which contains the new bushings for the shift lever. It needs it badly! What I found remarkable about this GT6 is that it's essentially all there and not all cobbled up! The head liner is in excellent condition except for the very rear area at the back of the hatch. Although the seat foam is totally shot, the seat covers aren't horribly bad. As the photos show, the backrest portionof the passenger seat hassome holes, but the seatbase is good. It does have one small hole about the size of a quarter. The drivers seat cover is inexcellent condition, and like the right side, the foam padding will need replacing. The center trim panels are in very nice condition as is the steering wheel. The arm rest isn't bad, but it does have some light cracking that's beginning to show. The dash shows its ageas the clear is peeling. The right door panel is very nice, and the leftside other thana small hole from the window crank lever,(about the size of an eraser)it isin nice condition as well. Both right and left parcel trays are in tact and in nice condition. As you'll also see, the floor pans need replacing as well as the rocker panels. There is also rust at the bottom of the quarters. The trunk floor is solid as is the rear hatch andrear valance. The doors are straight with no majorrust issues. However the hinges will need replacing to get proper alignment and door closure. All of the switches and gauges are present and appear to be in working order. The wipers work as does the blower motor. The turn signals flash, but very slowly. Some lights work, otherslikely need bulbs. All of the glass is in excellent condition! The windows roll up and down as they shouldbut theycould use some lubrication. The wing windows operate very nicely. The latches seal things upsnug and tightas the rubber is in excellent condition! This GT6 also has the heated glass in the hatch door. With the exception of the front bumper, the chrome and stainless partsare in verygood condition. The front bumper guards (overriders) are in great condition. The Triumph, and GT6 Plus name plates are in excellent condition as well. As far asthe hydraulics go, being it's been setting all these years they will need a going through. Both master cylinders have some fluid remaining. The clutch master operates freely but doesn't pressurize the slave. The brake masteris sticky butI feel it safe to say thatit can be rebuilt. The caralso has afull set of Koni shocks (front & rear)andshow nosigns of leakage. I cannot say how old the tires are but all 4 hold air and have very good tread. I don't recall seeing weather cracking, but if it were myself, I'd replace them before calling the car a "driver". This car comes as shown in the photos. Though I do not have the keys, I do have a clean Iowa title. I've tried my best to give as accurate of a description as possible. If there is something that I haven't covered, or if you have additional questions, Please feel free to ask. As a side note: the battery, electric fuel pump and fuel container used to start this car are considered as part of my tools and equipment and arenot included in this sale. With the strong smell of old gas I chose to use the alternative method for start up. the cars fuel tank could use a good flushing.
