Hello, I have for sale a Non overdrive 1968 Triumph TR250.As the photos show, this Fifty Six year old Triumph has fallen victim to the brutal winters of Northwest Iowa. This car is amazingly complete and original ! The dual Stromberg carburetors and linkage are 100% complete. All linkage and carburetor components move freely as the should. The air filter box is the original and in excellent condition.Noticing that it still has both of the Lucas sealed beam headlights, the correct washer pump & reservoir, pedestal mirror on the drivers door, a full set of four Michelin Red line tires with pretty good tread, a solid muffler, and most all of it's badges. It leads one to consider that the 31000 mile odometer reading could very well be actual. The seats have been stored indoors and are in remarkably good condition. See photos. The down side is, although the engine and engine bay are complete, the engine is stuck ! The frame also has serious rust in all the places you don't want to have rust ! It will need a frame !! However, I do hold a hassle free clean title. If a guy were to land himself a TR6 parts car with a nice enough frame, this car is the perfect candidate for a full restoration! As the photos show, the battery shelf, left floor, and rocker panel hold the bulk of the body's rust. As for the drivers door, it appears someone's plastic work has come undone. The main body tub is very repairable! As with most all Triumph restorations, it will need the usual rocker panels and floor pan work. The main trunk floor/ spare tire well has a bit of scaling. The photos show a few small rust holes and how the main steel structure is solid giving a surface to weld to. The right front fender has the usual rust at the bottom where the widely available patch panel would go. There's another small hole at the front which is repairable. The left front fender is a fiberglass replacement, so do with that what you will. The photos are a good representative as to the condition of the rear fenders. The rear bumper is straight with no dents or damage to it or the overriders. Being the Triumph bumpers of that era didn't have the deep shine as the newer models have, steel wool could be your friend !The right tail light housing has some minor blisters, but there are no cracks or dents. The photos show the left housing needing replaced. The hood is not bolted to the car as the release cable is broken and the hinges don't move freely. Rather than risk damaging a very straight TR250 hood, I thought it best to unbolt it and leave that to the restoration process.Other than needing some fine cleaning and polishing, the correct TR250 grill (no crank hole) is in excellent condition !I have done my best to describe this car as accurate as possible. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask !!The reserve price is low as I realize this car will need a frame !As a side note, this car is also listed on the local CL site plus an online British car site. If those ads should fetch a number far exceeding the bids of this sale, I'm reserving the right to end this listing early. It is listed there with the same "Buy it Now" price as is here. With that being said, you can feel free to contact me with an offerIf you have any questions or would like to come see it, feel free to get hold of me.This TR250 is located on the south side of Des Moines Iowa near the airport / Wakonda golf course area.A deposit of $1000.00 is required within 24 hours of sale end - and the full balance is due within 7 days of end of sale - Unless previous arrangements are madeI can store this car for up to 30 days if needed providing it's paid for in full. If you are seriously considering the purchase of this car and transportation is a concern, I do have a guy that over the years has hauled many of the Triumphs that I have sold - to their new owners. His prices were very fair and I never once heard of there being any problems.I spoke with him on Wednesday the 14th and he tells me that although he is out of the game for a while, but if I need a car moved he will put us in touch with someone who'll give the same quality of service.I throw this out there as some of the big trucking companies charge a ton of money and then sub contract the work out to whoever will do it the cheapest. In the end a driver shows up banging on my door at 3 AM parked 6 blocks away because he can't fit his semi transport into my neighborhood. Then when they learn that the car doesn't run, drive, or have brakes, the mess begins and I'm stuck dealing with it ! Would you,,, want some belligerent guy hollering and cussing his way out of your driveway and down the street as you and he try and figure out how to move a disabled car 6 blocks? Unfortunately this has happened more than once.VERY IMPORTANT, PLEASE READ !! To avoid ANY or ALL of the major issues described above, I cannot express it enough that :When arranging for a transport company, 1. Look for a small independent.2. PLEASE, Make Absolutely POSITIVE that you inform them that this car is in a RESIDENTIAL area where a Large car transport --- MAY NOT FIT!3. Make CERTAIN that you make them - FULLY AWARE that this car - DOES NOT RUN ! And that it has NO BRAKES ! - NO hand brake - NO park brake - NO clutch to use to stop it or slow it down !Too often times they have that Ford, Chrysler, GM stuff stuck in their heads and just assume it has a mechanical clutch that will serve a a brake.4. This vehicle can ONLY be picked up between 9:00 AM and 7:00 PM5. Make sure that we stay in touch, and that I am notified well in advance as to when they will be here._______________________________________________________The stuff that shouldn't need saying - but needs saying.I will not release the car or the title until full payment is received. No Exceptions !If picking up in person, Cash only !I will not post or send a photo of the title unless you are the new owner._____________________________________________________________Thanks for looking, and have a great day !!Joe
