1980 Triumph TR7 Convertible Additional Info:
Please be sure to look over all of the photos carefully and read the entire description before you buy!
Up for sale is a 1980 Triumph TR7 Spider edition convertible. Information from Michael Hart, a TR7 Spider researcher, shows that this is a genuine Spider from the Solihull factory in 1980. The car originally came with a 5-speed transmission, but it was changed to a 4-speed at some point, black gloss paint instead of white (you can see under the hood and in the door jambs that it was black at one point.), and grey and black seats with the grey shag carpet, along with red decal striping for the exterior, which seems to have been removed prior to the new paint. The original seats are still inside the car, but they will need to be reupholstered, while the carpet was completely torn from the interior. The fuel system was also changed from the mechanical pump to an electrical pump, and uses a switch on the interior to activate. I replaced the vinyl top and bought a new battery for it, and it starts right up and runs and drives. I also purchased new tires that haven't seen the road since I do not drive the car. It will need some work to be back to the original condition it is meant to be in, and is meant to be a project car. There are some missing pieces in the interior and exterior that can be found when I searched for them on eBay and some of the Triumph OEM parts suppliers. I also have three or four boxes of extra or necessary parts for the car, but I do not know what is there. It will need work to be drive-able, and the car will need to be towed after purchase. I'm asking $2000 for it, as it is a rare car being the Spider edition (only about 1600 were made and sent to the US.). I have included a picture of what the car should look like after restoration, and it currently does not look like that. Thanks!
