1968 Triumph TR250 Additional Info:
I have been a highly rated eBay seller for nearly 20 years under the same username, BobbyTriumph but it has been many years since I have sold one of my personal collection of Triumph vehicles. I frankly never intended to sell this wonderful TR 250 which is far and away the best of the four that I have had the pleasure of owning over the last 20 years. My Triumph collection has been featured in books by Bill Piggott and James Taylor, and I’ve always been a very thorough and faithful restorer. This 250 was simply a dream to find. A rust free, no accident damage car it was complete with some dismantling started. I paid a lot of money for the car because of the amazing condition and then proceeded to do very thorough restoration including a complete repaint to a very high standard in the original color; rebuilt engine, a rebuild of the A type overdrive transmission, and every other essential system to the car. One key item is the attention I paid to the fuel system from a brand new fuel tank to the correct carburetors being thoroughly rebuilt and every part specialist micropolished. The function of the fuel system is superb, complemented by a Pertronix ignition that is a great reliability upgrade. Note also the one year only correct original alternator is present and was specialist rebuilt. These are so often missing on the 250 as they are impossible to find. These types of details, including the original TRIUMPH branded radio, make the car a fun and pleasant collectible. It is a beautiful color and we redid all the chrome, and replaced the chrome wire wheels with all new original Dunlop type chrome wires, and the new very high-quality redline tires in the correct size. All of the seat foam was replaced but the original upholstery was retained on the seat faces. The wooden dash, dash top, door panels carpet and soft top(correct TR250 striped Robbins top) are all new as is the trunk floor board, etc. there is simply zero rust anywhere in the car nor is there any body damage whatsoever. (If anyone with sharp eyes noticed, the wiper motor is out for a rebuild and will be re-installed prior to delivery with all new mounting bushings.) The car has just been driven 1000 miles from my home to the Triumph festival in Sacramento California where the car received a gold award in the show. I’m happy to answer any and all questions regarding the vehicle . If you have shopped for a TR 250 and seen the incredibly high prices being asked, even for average cars, this will be a pleasant experience as I’m being very reasonable regarding the reserve. Also note that many cars may appear to be restored and solid vehicles that are nothing more than tarted up examples looking shiny with demons to be revealed later in the form of hidden rust, or inferior or incorrect mechanicals. I have even seen TR 250s needing serious full restoration, and demanding project cars bring strong prices so this car represents an excellent opportunity. Rust is the enemy on any collector car and this one is absolutely free of it. That is a genuine statement and any inspection is welcome. Furthermore the mechanical restoration has been done correctly and with the best available parts and specialists involved. The new owner can enjoy this car immediately. Sure, there will be things you’ll find to improve but none of them will be significant or scary. Comes with lots of documentation of the work, as well as workshop manual and owners book. Current registration and clear title in my name. Best of luck to all.
