At auction is a basically original, nicely sorted '80 Triumph TR8. It is in great mechanical condition and drives very nicely. It has the original (rebuilt) Stromberg carbs and stock air filters.
I have the clear VA title to the car.
History. I purchased it in June, 2015, from a British car restoration shop and put about 2,500 carefree miles on it. I am a mature driver and have meticulously cared for this car, which is always parked in a locked, dry garage.
The odometer reads 32,628. It does not have A/C. It does have power steering, with a brand new rebuilt steering rack and PS pump from The Wedge Shop, 6/2015.
The only exception to originality are a new set of 15" Rota alloy wheels, I purchased 6/2015. These bolted right up to the original hubs. New Dunlop Tires were fitted also then and are in excellent condition with 2,500 miles on them. I have receipts for the wheels and tires.
Repairs/restoration. Please note the extensive list of restoration repairs done in June, 2015, below, all performed by professionals at a highly regarded British car restoration shop. I have receipts for all of it.
Power Steering. Newly rebuilt steering rack and power steering pump from The Wedge Shop, 6/2015.
Body. The body is very solid, and appears to have little or no significant rust issues. The paint has some spidering on the hood and rear deck, and is a little faded. But, it is shiny and looks pretty good until close inspection. There is slight surface rust on the leading edge of the nose of the car. It is simple surface rust. The floor pans look clean (see photos).
Engine. The Rover V/8 engine runs strongly, fires right up cold or warm. It burns/leaks little or no oil, with zero smoke. It appears to be stock, with twin Stromberg carbs. This car is fast, and handles very well.
Drivetrain. The 5-speed transmission has no issues and shifts smoothly. No problems at all, period, with the drivetrain.
Braking. The entire braking system was inspected and rebuilt by professionals at a British car specialty shop, 6/2015. See below. I have the receipts.
Electrics. ALL electrics are functional and in good running condition, except the dash clock, which runs intermittently. The original AM/FM/Cassette radio works,but I don't know if the cassette deck works as I have no cassette tapes to test it.
Suspension. The suspension is straight and tire wear is even. The suspension was professionally inspected and repairs madein June, 2015, by professionals, 2,500 miles ago. Note new suspension work performed, below. I have receipts for all of this work.
Convertible top. The convertible top is in excellent condition, fits perfectly and looks like new.
Interior. The interior looks good, with new, correct TR8 carpeting purchased 07/2015 from Prestige Autotrim in England. The seat covers show some wear, but look good.
Repairs. Following is a list of work I've had done on the car since May 22, 2015, 2,500 miles ago. I have receipts for all repairs and parts:
> 15" Rota alloy wheels installed new, 2,500 miles on them, perfect condition;
> 15" Dunlop Direza 205/50 R15 86V tires, 2,500 miles on them;
