1961 Triumph TR3 Additional Info:
You are bidding on a 1961 Triumph TR3 A
This was my wife's car that she drove in the 60's when she was single and for a few years after we were married. The car was always taken care of and has not been abused. It has been garaged for over 40 years, but the engine turns freely. I began a refurb on it with my grandson and we made good headway (read on to see what we've done and what still needs to be done), but I just have too many other projects so I need to let this one go.
This is a good car with a good engine and relatively low miles. Even though it has been garaged for many years, the engine was running and the car was driveable when we put it up on blocks several years ago to replace the fenders.
I have all the parts: doors, seats, and side curtains are in the attic. Lights, horns, etc. are in boxes. I also have 2 Triumph assembly books and a recent Roadster Factory catalog. I have bought all parts through the Roadster Factory. For what it's worth, they also have given me good help when I needed it.
New parts include 2 front fenders, rocker panels and front fender deflector panels as well as a passenger side floorboard. Also other more misc. parts such as hinges for the hood (more correctly, the bonnet?).
The front and rear shock absorbers and front suspension rubbers, etc. have been replaced. Also, new brakes, front and back have been installed. As I said, the engine is "free" as I put oil in the cylinders 2 or 3 times over the years and turned the engine over by hand.
The steering box seems to need new seals. The transmission, when last moved under power, was somewhat difficult for me to downshift into. It may just need some gear oil.
