Vintage sports cars are fairly rarely sighted on the road, but this 1960 Triumph TR3 is a veritable unicorn on wheels. Its cool factor is absolutely through the roof and it will pull up with a British Motor Heritage Trust Certificate on board to back up its noble lineage. After crossing the Atlantic directly from England, it landed in California and luckily, it stuck around. Just a few years back, it underwent an unusually thorough cosmetic and mechanical restoration -... it was more of a rebuilding from scratch, actually - so now it's in stellar form both inside and out and drives like a dream. This is one ultra-stylish vintage roadster and since, for all intents and purposes it began a second life just a few years back, it's looking its absolute best. During that process, its curvaceous exterior was taken all the way down to bare metal before being primed and repainted in a lustrous shade of red and every necessary step was taken to ensure it would re-emerge with an outstanding fit and finish. Not only were the body panels themselves thoroughly inspected before being prepped for reinstallation, but the underlying mounting kit was replaced entirely. The gaps surrounding the hood, doors and trunk lid are impressively tight and even; everything opens and closes smoothly via new hinges. Check out those protective panels on the rear fenders - they look as if they've yet to see their first spec of dirt. True to its rally-inspired heritage, the TR3 was built with open air motoring in mind, but for those times when shelter is called for, there's a black convertible top waiting beneath the fresh tonneau cover to assist and because, like nearly every other component on this car, it looks brand new. Climb in through the driver side door and you'll be surrounded by a vintage sports car cockpit with few equals. Close your eyes and right away images of navigating curving roads with nothing but blue sky above you will come to mind. The interior has essentially been reconfigured from square one - the bucket seats were totally rebuilt before being reupholstered and reinstalled above new seat guides, the carpeting underneath them was replaced and now features a pair of fresh floor mats and the assortment of functional clear gauges - more extensive than what you normally see in a car of this vintage - are recessed into a recovered dash area. Even the shift knob, shift boot and pedal pads are new. This TR3 really cuts an impressive presence both inside and out. Raise the deck lid and you'll see that, while the trunk is compact, there is enough space for some carry-ons. Power comes via an original 1991 cc engine that sits in an engine compartment whose condition is truly museum-worthy. The sheer cleanliness of the components inside is a sight you don't often see and not a wire is out of place. Having been totally rebuilt before being reunited with its pair of period correct SU H6 carbs, it's really running great and is now properly configured for unleaded gas. The original 4-speed manual transmission sitting just behind it received new seals and gaskets to minimize its chances of leaking and an entirely new clutch kit joins the mix to help guarantee you can work your way through the gears with ease. This outstanding product of Coventry, England cruises on a set of great looking 15" wheels that carry Kumho Power Star tires with plenty of tread left. Its unique form would make it plenty compelling to begin with, but with the extensive restoration this 1960 Triumph TR3 features, it's an absolute treasure. Call today!
