1974 Triumph TR-6 Additional Info:
Introduced in January of 1969 Triumph replaced the popular TR5 (TR250 in the US) with the TR6. The TR6 carried a very similar shape to the previous model but had a different front and rear re-design done by Karmann. The TR6 carried the familiar 2.5 litre straight 6-cylinder engine and was one of the faster and more agile of the few remaining true British roadster. By 1973 Triumph had made some changes with the gearing and suspension improvements making the car handle and perform even better. A small lower spoiler was also added underneath the front chrome bumper to help with aerodynamics. Many enthusiast and collectors believe the TR6 to be one of the last of the true “Hairy Chested” British roadsters. The TR6 embodies the no nonsense pure driving experience that only a British roadster can give you.
FOR ONLY: $19900
TR6 Roadster. This TR6 left the Coventry production line in January of 1974 and was invoiced to North America. The car was sent to British Motor Car Distributors on Van Ness in San Francisco where it was delivered to its new owner on October 17, 1974. The owner lived in the bay area and kept the car well into the late 1990’s early 2000’s where the second owner acquired the vehicle and kept it in Southern California. The car has traveled only 100,896 from new and has completely been restored in the last three years. Having just had a repaint in its original factory color of 126 Mallard Green and just recently having a full interior trim in its correct Triumph black vinyl interior this TR6 is cosmetically stunning. The body is arrow straight and completely rust and dent free. The paint is stunning and free from any scratches or chips (one small scratch on the drivers door). There are no signs of any accidents or body damage anywhere on the car. All of the chrome and trim looks to have been re-done recently as well and shows beautifully. The correct factory soft top has also just been replaced in correct factory materials and looks and fits perfectly. All of the glass is perfectly clear and scratch and pit free and all of the surrounding trim is in excellent condition. The correct redline tires are brand new and the correct TR6 wheels look like they have been refurbished. This TR6 has had a full engine out rebuild and everything was replaced, rebuilt and painted or re-powder coated. The engine bay is almost spotless, and free from any grease or dirt. The clutch and the transmission feels very solid and very tight, the gears do not grind at all and all four gears feel very strong. There is no slipping in the clutch and feels very tight and solid. The suspension feels excellent, very tight and free from any thumping or noises. Most of the suspension components look to have been replaced recently. The brakes have an excellent responsive feel to them and there is no signs of fade or squeaking. All of the electricals in the car have been sorted through and replaced. All of the gauges are reading correctly (the speedometer is a little optimistic) and all of the dash lights are in proper working order. The headlights, taillights, brake lights, side marker lights and turn signals are all in working order including the door lights. The undercarriage of the car is incredibly clean and completely 100% rust and rot free. All of the exhaust components look brand new. This TR6 is an exceptional running car and sounds incredible under acceleration. The steering feels very precise and does not wonder around the road or pull to any direction. The car starts right up and idles very smoothly, it accelerates beautifully and pulls very strong. This TR6 is an outstanding example of one of the most beloved classic British Roadsters. This example is a 100% rust free example and has lived in California all of its life with provenance and books since new. Very rare and very desirable example finished in a stunning shade of factory Mallard Green.
