1987 Toyota 4Runner Additional Info:

1987 Toyota 4Runner four wheel drive SR5 22RE Manual trans!!!

UNICORN.......

I purchased this Runner 15 years ago and has been steadily rebuilding it in an effort to make it as new and reliable as possible. Due to a series of medical complications the vehicle is now on the market.

Before you read any further, potential buyers need to know that this vehicle has independent front suspension -

not a straight front axle.

Even though this is a four wheel drive, one can count on one hand the number of times it’s been off road, none of which that were on anything serious. As ridiculous as it may seem, I didn’t want to subject it to anything that would do it harm - his goal was to enjoy a well maintained 4Runner for decades to come.

Any accidents? Yes. A deer ran from the side of the road and T-boned the driver’s side door, which was replaced and painted to match OEM color by Pacific Auto Body & Paint in Albany, OR, in January of 2018.

The vehicle will come with all the detailed service and repair records since the seller became the owner in 2010. The Toyota specialist in Santa Rosa, CA, Yodaman, has performed 95% of all work on this vehicle and would be happy to discuss the history of my vehicle with you. That connection can be made upon your request. Toyota trucks are their speciality, their work is impeccable and they’ve built some of the best crawlers one could hope to have. The seller suggests that If you purchase this Runner, and live near the SF Bay Area, he highly recommends continuing to use them for any complex job you decide to undertake, and at the very least, they are a resource for parts and information.

Yodaman has generated a detailed spreadsheet of everything related to my truck from 2012 to the present day. It’s shocking how much money that has been invested in this vehicle over the years.

Those are the basic talking points.

Listed below are just a few things to whet your appetite.

A far more detailed list will be available upon request for serious buyers.

Again, the entire list is itemized and will include: invoice date, vendor name, invoice number, invoice item, item cost, item description, and comments for each line item. The range is from 2012 to present.

Following are the areas of concern:

There is a little rust inside the driver’s side door jam, about 5 inches long (see Photo)

There are a few chips of paint from pebbles being kicked up on the highway - mostly above the grill (see Photo)

As noted above, the driver’s seat has a spot that has worn through. The seller didn’t address this because the buyer may want to change the seats anyway.

That’s it.

There are other tinker items that are just basic upkeep and detailing.

The 4Runner has 389,407 miles on the odometer, but that does not represent the mileage on most of the running gear, etc. The engine has less than 50,000 miles, and far less for most everything else. So, it’s more accurate just to say, the odometer has 389,407 miles on it.

The seller is asking a price that legitimately represents its value, and is not interested lowball offers. Therefore, the asking price of $25,000 is reasonable.

If you want a vehicle to beat to death in off road locations, this is not the truck for you. If you want a head-turning 35 year-old 4Runner, this is one to consider.

One last thing - the engine does not leak one drop of oil, and does not use any additional oil between its 3,000 mile oil changes. No other component leaks, either. This vehicle is always garaged when not in use.
