1982 Toyota Pickup SR5 Additional Info:
Thank you for looking at my 1982 Toyota Pickup. My Grandfather purchased this Pickup new in 1982 from Bill Maxey Toyota which is now Huntington Beach Toyota. I bought it from him in 2008 and have enjoyed every minute of owning this beautiful example of a Toyota Pickup.
The Pickup has the SR5 trim package which includes the elongated arm rest / door handles, the center console with compartment, upgraded door panels and the Volt / Oil gauges in the center console. The AC works and is still filled with R12 freon. The Pickup was fitted with cruise control by the dealer but will need a vacuum hose replaced to make it functional. A Lojack subscription and transponder is included. The stock radio still works with the door speakers but I have added an aftermarket radio and 6X9 box speakers in the camper shell. Everything is stock on this vehicle. Many of the plastic body pieces have been replaced due to deterioration. The side mirrors were an option installed at Tempo Camper Shells along with the shell and carpet kit in the back. The Pickup is comfortable to camp in, my wife and I have spent a few nights in the desert and slept well.
The engine was rebuilt after it overheated in 2011. The head was replaced as well. The transmission was rebuilt in 2017, many of the plastic shifting pieces had deteriorated and now it shifts like new. The Pickup starts right up and runs great. It failed smog two years ago and I had to replace the catalytic converter in order to pass. I just replaced the fuel pump and the fuel filter last week.
The Pickup has won trophies at car shows and is a hit where ever it goes. It is quite a conversation starter.
The Pickup, I imagine, will be bought by someone who appreciates what it is, what it represents and has a strong emotional tie to it. I have quite a bit of money invested in this Pickup. My health issues prevent me from spending as much time caring for and showing the Pickup and I would like to know that someone who appreciates it is enjoying it as much as I have.
