1972 Toyota Land Cruiser Additional Info:
Its licensed, insured and a clear title in my name. It runs and drives but needs some work to be road ready. Have new correct Toyota tail lights for it.
Have had this 40 for a long time and a couple years ago I started to assemble it. Lots of new parts have been bought and installed. I am so burnt out I feel like it's time for me to part with it. Should be 100% complete except for the factory wheels, rear jump seats, headliner and the braces for the roll bar.
1972 FJ40 originally from California. It's almost rust free. Very minor rust on outer ends of the sill. Everything thing else is solid. Extra front fenders that have no rust but some cracks and dents. It runs and drives but the steering box is loose. I was going to install a FJ60 power steering box. I have most of the parts to convert to power steering, the 60 box, pump and later column. The 60 box needs seals installed. Lots of new parts have been installed.
Engine, fresh rebuilt 1974 F155 or more commonly known as the F.5. Engine was bored .030, crankshaft turned .010. Rods were resized. New; ITM pistons, Toyota cam gear, mellings stock replacement cam, ITM lifters, ITM bearings and Felpro gaskets. Head has all new GM LS valves, springs etc. Head has been surfaced .010. Block has been decked. 020. Flywheel was resurfaced, new clutch assembly installed. New GM 100 amp alternator. New water pump and hoses. Has 1977 intake/exhaust manifolds. The 3 piece exhaust manifold is less prone to crack. 2F style aluminum valve cover, has screw in oil filler cap. Engine has maybe 100 miles on it. Hasfactory A/C brackets on the engine.
Stock 1977 exhaust system. AFI tbi fuel injection conversion. In tank fuel pump, VSS, 3FE dist and a custom chip.
Front disc brake axle has been rebuilt. 3.70 ratio. New trunion bearings. Marlin crawler inner axle seals. Later stub axles and the stronger Aisin lockouts installed.
Rear axle rebuilt, new axle bearings and seals. Has 3.70 gears. 1978 4 speed transmission with the correct factory skid plate and a rare November 1973 4 speed transfer case, has the more desirable lower ratio.
Factory 1976 roll bar, stock 72 front seat. Hardtop sides are from a 1976. Was going to take a pair of ambulance doors and shorten them and use a factory soft top tail gate.
New brakes shoes and wheel cylinders on the rear. Front has rebuilt calipers and new pads. New brake lines, new fuel lines.
Center steering arm has been rebuilt. New Alcan springs. They are about 2" lift. New Monroe gas magnum 60 shocks.
I think there is new Toyota weatherstrip for everything except the top. Fuel gauge does not work but the tank has a new Toyota sending unit.
This is the majority of work that's needed to finish.
Body, complete paint job, rain gutter is a bit rough but can be repaired, front fenders have dents but no rust. Support braces for roll bar installed, minor work on the rear sill, couple small cracks inthe doors which is very common, other than the minor sill rust there is only surface rust on therest.
Mechanical, air cleaner finished, fuel tank evaporative systeminstalled, pressure bleed the brake and clutch systems
Interior, no seat belts, seat covers have acouple holes but should be easy to fix, dash pad needs recovered orreplaced
Probably close to $2000 in new Toyotaparts still in the box. Here are the part #'s
