| 1972 FJ40 Land Cruiser We purchased this Numbers Matching FJ40 Land Cruiser in November of last year from a gentleman thathad it forthe last 7+ years. He typically used it twice a year in the summer for camping, and wasgaraged when not used. Itwas re-painted Red a couple years before he purchased it, and the frame & tubwasalso undercoated. The undercoating was flaking/failing... We removed the undercoating (95% of it anyway) to reveal a Frame &Tub in great condition! Astheprevious ownerof the party I purchased this from did amild restoration... which included: engine work,new clutch,new seat brackets,paint job & aftermarktet guages (we did return to a factory gauge set). We do know that over the past 10+ years, there have only be 10,495 miles on it (aftermarket odometer) and it's been used lightly & garaged since. Definitely shows no signs of "wheeling" and/or abuse. The previous paint job/work did correct aprevious issue - rusting of three1/2" size holes in the floorbetweendriversunder-seat toolbox wall & tub side wall. I'm guessing they were most likely drilled & never treated by an earlier owner (repair is shownin pictures below). We opened up the repair area from thebottom... no signs of old oractive rustfound (they did agood job).The repair is solid & you almost have to know the repair is there to see it from top or bottom... you won't see it if you're not looking for it. The exterior body was sanded down toit's original color/primer/metal prior to returning the Cruiser to its's original color of Rustic Green... and no, there was not RUST in "the usualplaces".The frame was cleaned/sanded/treated & coated Eastwood Matte Black. Overall:Sweet looking & driving! This FJ40 could be used for Daily Driving, Weekend Getaways or as an Investment... or all three! Original 3spd (one of only a few years it was standard on the floor) coupled to a newerclutch shifts smooth. Drives, Runs, Steers, Rides & Stops great!4 Wheel Drive worksas it should (tested on pavement... in fact, it hasn't been off pavement or in the rain since build), Heater/Defrosterfan blows on hi setting only.Lights, wipers, vents,etc all work. The Paint... To a paint critic - 7/8 out of 10... it's very solid & we're proud to stand next to it (it's not a $10k-15k paint job).Filler was used sparingly, mostly to cover welds when shavingantenna& oldsoft top holes. We wanted it to look like it was 45 yrs old (but well cared for)... the Vintage look- With some Comfort & Personal Attitude...
