1984 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ60 Additional Info:

I bought this Toyota FJ-60 Land Cruiser on Ebay in 2004 because it was in new condition with a third the mileage (80k) of the one I was driving at the time. The owner at that time was the brother to the original purchaser so, in essence, I am the second owner. I have records of maintenance dating back to the first owner's purchase date. My hope was to one day ship it to Australia and explore the outback so I began to set it up for expedition - but I was careful not to make any modifications that could not easily be restored to original OEM. Well, I never made the odyssey but had a lot of fun building what you see here. I own 2 other Land Cruisers that I use for daily drivers and outings. This one turned out to be too nice (read expensive) to abuse. Hence, she became a Sunday driver/Garage Queen. I'm hesitant to park it in a shopping center for fear that it will get dented by a shopping cart or a texting driver and ruin the clean record of no bodywork, original paint, no accidents. I'm now old, have grand-kids to transport, so I've decided to buy a new Land Cruiser-- and with a $85k price tag for these beasts, this cool 60 I must now sacrifice.
I began the expedition build by beefing up the suspension with OME (Old Man Emu) springs and shocks. Had serviced and re-built front and rear axles with .456 gears and ARB lockers front and rear. Replaced the fuel tank with a long range 38 gallon tank. Added dual batteries and replaced every hose and belt with new OEM, installed ceramic headers, Round Eyes headlights. Tinted the windows, installed Tuffy console box, bought new OEM carburetor (one of the last remaining ones, not rebuilt), alternator, radiator, starter motor. Added an ARB front bumper with a 8000 lbs. Warn winch. Kaymar bumper for the rear with swing out tire carrier and can carrier (apparently Kaymar bumpers are no longer imported to the States). Sourced OEM 16" steel Land Cruiser wheels from Australia and mounted 33" BFG mud terrain tires. Installed storage doors in tailgate and cargo side panels. Driver's side cargo panel has a Australian made water bladder (never used). Cargo carpet is new OEM I found on EBay 5 years ago and only now installed. OEM radio is still installed in dash and works but is disconnected, original antenna . New OEM front seat belts. An upgrade radio CD player is in the Tuffly center console but needs to be set up (I never got around to hooking all the stereo wiring up after changing out the speakers in the doors and side panels). It has OEM tilt meter/clock sourced from Australia mounted on dash and OEM Aussie rear view mirrors. Dash has no cracks - it and the seats were protected with covers from the day I first bought this truck. Sun visors and headliner are in great condition. Upholstery in remarkably good condition. Small tear on side of driver's seat which is common to all these 60 series Land Cruisers. No rust on body panels, frame, undercarriage or anywhere.
Mechanically this vehicle is likely as close to new condition as you can get. All mechanical work has been done over the years by one guy - a certified Toyota Master mechanic who specializes in Land Cruisers and also teaches classes for the Overland Expos (I can arrange contact if you want). A couple years ago, as Toyota parts are becoming more scarce to obtain for these Land Cruisers, I decided to have the Engine, Transmission, Transfer case completely gone through and brought up to new vehicle specs. New pistons, crank, clutch, oil pan, water pump, vacuum lines, brakes- you name it - was replaced even though nothing had failed yet. That work was done at about 110k miles. It now has less that 115k miles total so the entire drive-train is like new with only 5k miles of wear. Even the window runs/felts got replaced. A/C works great and so does the smog pump.
A few noteworthy items which underscore the uniquely good condition of this Land Cruiser: All the glass is original. You will find the Toyota stamp on all windows including the windshield. The headlight washers work. (Nearly impossible to find an intact headlight washer bottle that doesn't leak). The small plastic clips atop the rear bench seat to hold up the seat belts when not in use are still there. Still have the original Owner's Manual, tools, jack, plug in trouble light, and even the small unopened can of touch up paint that came with the new truck as well as the window sticker. The paint, all original, is still bright with very few scratches. No body work has ever been done.
There is a small dent on the hood from a soda bottle that dropped on it. A chrome strip is missing from the rear rain channel at the roof line and the rocker panel chrome strip is missing from the PS.
I have saved most all the parts from the original purchase which is included in this sale. Nothing was done to this Cruiser that couldn't be easily undone. Everything was bolt-on.
You also get a bunch of extra parts I've collected over the years:4 OEM wheels 15" Chrome, Split rear bench seat (OEM from Australia), front passenger seat belt ( new OEM), new winch pulley, pair rear cargo glass windows, steering box, PS pump, etc.
Shipping: I will work with your transport shipper to facilitate delivery. I also might be willing to drive it to you if you are within a day's drive of Tucson, have an airport nearby and you cover the cost (gas/airfare) to get me round trip, but need to discuss and agree to ahead of time.
I have priced this not expecting to get the $ I have put into this Land Cruiser back, but based on what is the current market value of these vehicles. The exceptional condition of the base vehicle combined with the accessories and extra parts make this particular Cruiser rare and valuable. Here is my price analysis based on tracking other sales and monitoring the ih8mud board:
-Base Vehicle in collectable condition with super low miles and freshen drive train: $20k
Accessories valued at purchase cost, NOT including labor for install:
-Front Bumper, never used Warn winch, dual battery system 4k$,
-Rear Kaymar Bumper with tire carrier, can carrier; cargo storage compartments sides and tailgate, Tuffy center console box: $4k,
-OME (Old Man Emu) suspension $2k,
-Front and rear re-gear axle, Front axle hub rebuild, ARB lockers, air compressor: $6k,
- Long range fuel tank, 16" OEM land cruiser wheels, water tank, window tint, custom paint bumpers/wheels: $2.5k
Plus you get $$$ worth of extra parts. This adds up to nearly $40k. Seems like my asking price is reasonable.
