1961 Studebaker Champ 6E12-122 3/4 ton long bed Additional Info:
Originally a California Department of Transportation (CalTrans) truck it arrived from the factory Omaha Orange. The next owner started to paint the truck red and black, however as the story goes the wife didn't like red and black so he covered it in a cream colored house paint. The interior is still red / black. A second fuel tank was installed and the exhaust modified. The second tank has been removed and the exhaust has been restored to original. During the exhaust install we discovered the 1961 engine has been replaced at some time with a 1964 engine. We suspect this was due to the addition of a full flow oil filter and CalTrans needed to reduce the maintenance costs. There were only 359 of these trucks made for domestic use.
Engine has been restored and several modifications have been taken off to complete the restoration. Additional photos available on request
Solid truck, no rust through that I could find. Needs paint.
I'm selling the truck as I'm looking to reduce the number of antique vehicles.
