1968 Shelby GT350 Additional Info:
A 2018 SAAC and 2017 MCA Gold award winning car, this 1968 Shelby GT350 has been well cared for and underwent a recent concours level rotisserie restoration to get it to that level. Restoration work was completed between 2016 and 2017 with extensive attention to detail over every piece of the car. Wherever possible, NOS and the highest quality reproduction parts were used. The exterior is painted in the correct code of Highland Green. As the typical available paint formula is not exactly correct, a custom mix was formulated to match the OEM color. The paint is almost “too good” and was the only major points deduction during judging. Copies of both judging results are available on request. Wheels are also date code correct Kelsey-Hayes wrapped in Coker reproduction Bias Ply Goodyears. Believed to have been changed in the first few years of ownership, the original engine was replaced with a 1970 dated 302 replacement. During restoration this engine was upgraded internally to become a 331 stroker, measured on an engine dyno at 335 hp and 345 ft-lb torque. Visually, the engine bay appears to be stock, and was restored with the March ’68 recall addition of the Shelby aluminum high rise intake and Holley carburetor. Included with the car is the original iron intake manifold and Autolite 4100 carburetor. A date correct 302 block is also included with the car. The original numbers matching C4 transmission has been rebuilt and retains all correct identification. The 9” rear differential was also rebuilt with a limited slip differential as another subtle upgrade. Underneath, the exhaust is a concours correct reproduction from Scott Fuller. Inside, NOS carpet and upholstery was used to match the original instruments, dash panels, and re-chromed and re-painted original badging. The original firewall pad and dash pad have been restored and are in place, the seatbelts have been restored and retain their original date correct identification labels, and the original steering wheel with tilt away column has been restored. A reproduction glove box trim panel that has been autographed by Carroll Shelby is also available from the current owner. All glass is also correctly dated. If you are in the market for a collectible Shelby mustang, look no further than this well documented and highly judged 1968 GT350.
