This is a spectacular and well-known long wheelbase 1925 Rolls-Royce Silver Ghost Tourer by E.P. Reeves that is a multiple RREC concours award winner and an incredible touring example. Being one of the last Silver Ghosts produced, this example features all the desirable features such as the four-wheel brakes and improved power. The polished aluminum body is an incredible display of craftmanship and is simply stunning. This Ghost has faithfully driven about 8,000 miles per year for its present owner and is ready to offer a wonderful ownership experience to its next caretaker. 122AU had been earlier identified as 48TM and was modernized and renumbered by the factory in 1924. December of 1924 saw the end of the 20-year production of the Silver Ghost, making 122AU of the last chassis produced. 122AU was originally ordered on July 31, 1924, to be a Barker Pullman Limousine and was delivered to its first owner, Mr. David Sherman of London, on May 20, 1925. By February 10, 1927, 122AU had been acquired by the Honorable Lord Shuttleworth. Three owners followed until 1979 and 1985 when 122AU was thoroughly restored and rebodied in its present polished aluminum livery by E.P. Reeves. Mr. Reeves had a stellar reputation within the Rolls-Royce Enthusiasts Club (RREC) for brilliant restorations. 122AU won Best in Class and the Douglas Wood Trophy at the 1985 RREC Rally and Concours at Courteenhall in Northamptonshire. Further mechanical and cosmetic care has been provided by Silver Chalice Motor Service in Sheffield, including a refreshening of the engine in 2011. In 2021, 122AU was imported into the US by its present owner, Mr. James Rice in Texas. Mr. Rice has enthusiastically used 122AU on average about three times per week covering about 8,000 miles per year. The polished aluminum livery makes 122AU absolutely one of the most striking Silver Ghosts extant. The quality of the coachbuilding is spectacular. The massive 150-inch wheelbase is beautifully proportioned with the dual-windshield touring body. The silver painted 21-inch wheels and ample nickel-plated accessories are all in very nice condition, with only normal use showing since its restoration. There is a useful black luggage trunk resting on the trunk rack affixed to the rear of the Ghost and two side mounted spare wheels appear on each front fender. The blue leather pleated interior is also in very nice condition with the leather being soft and supple. There is normal wear showing on the leather from use. The wood dashboard is in very nice condition and the full complement of instruments work well. The grey carpet is bound with blue leather and is also in nice condition. The Dark Blue canvas convertible top is in very good condition and comes complete with a full set of side curtains. There are also two tonneau covers for the passenger compartments, one for the front and one for the rear. The rear passenger compartment has two jump seats, and the dual windshield can easily be stowed down or can be erected and used to deflect the wind. The engine compartment is also well detailed for show, with the brass and copper beautifully polished. The massive 7.4-liter side valve six cylinder is its original engine, number TU 144. The engine is smooth, quiet, and very powerful. The transmission is the later four-speed model and shifts easily through the gears. 122AU benefits from the later four-wheel brakes which are servo assisted. Six all new Firestone tires have been installed and the "Annual Service" was just completed. Even when Mr. Rice drive 122AU in 108-degree Fahrenheit temperatures in Texas, the Ghost ran well without any issues of overheating (unlike the driver and occupants!). 122AU comes complete with a significant file history from new as well as service manuals and tools. Also included is a matching blue canvas cover for the radiator grill, to help reduce tarnish if the Ghost is stored.
