1983 Porsche 944 Additional Info:
This is a truly spectacular example of an early 944 that has clearly lived indoors its whole life. Paint is very strong, not polished to oblivion like many other cars. The interior is the nicest I have seen on an original car. The original dash is almost perfect, showing virtually none of the cracking you typically see on unrestored examples. The leather sport seats are a rare and special option (these seats typically sell for $1500-$2000 on ebay! But of course it would be a shame to separate this car from its original optioned seats). The seat covers have largely weathered well, in a way that only leather does. The exception is the driver's side outer bolster, which has a tear currently taped over. An uphosterer skilled with leather could replace this individual panel. A couple years ago I special ordered the Porsche Tequipment floor mats from Germany (now no longer available) which are still in like-new condition.
Mechanically, this is a great running car. Starts up easily, runs smoothly, has lots of power, and the valve lifters sound good. Timing belt has been replaced relatively recently. There is a bit of a rumbling noise that can occasionally be heard from the drivetrain: Either the torque tube or the transmission. I have sourced, and will include, good used replacement parts: both a torque tube and a transmission, which could be swapped in to eliminate this noise. However, over the 4 years I've owned this car, the noise has not gotten any worse, and so I haven't felt the need to do the replacement. The car also drips a very slight amount of oil from under the valve cover, but I will include a replacement gasket.
This is a remarkably nice early 944, priced to sell to a collector looking for a very clean car.
Only 77k original miles. Other extra parts included: very nice original red lower front valence, a good transmission, a factory original M456 optional sport suspension setup, a full set of front and rear brakes, a brand new set of lowering springs, an extra muffler, and a rear torsion tube and suspension arms. This car has been upgraded with a Stage 2+ clutch and lightened flywheel. Recently installed new timing belt, hydraulic struts on hood and rear hatch, new DME relay, factory fresh floor mats from Germany, and a coil, cap, and ignition wires, Blaupunkt Toronto 420 head unit with bluetooth and new front speakers.
Note: If you ship the vehicle and want me to include all the spare parts, note that they will not all fit inside the car. You'll need to arrange to pick those up as well, if you want them.
